i’ve been lurking in the original thread for UCLA transfer updates and just when i thought of finally posting, the thread was shutdown. the whole onion situation is so funny y’all are so wholesome I hope you all get accepted.
dropping my sats ;
Major: English Lit
GPA: 3.7??3.8??? my unofficial transcript on my CCC portal gives me one GPA but reviewing it with my counselor shows me another so honestly, I have no idea. I know it’s average though because I cannot raise my grade in any math course for the life of me.
Personal Insight Essays: I’m actually pretty confident with this because I received lots of support and guidance from my peers, professors, and mentors.
IGETC: missing a physical science course/lab. Will complete by summer 2019 D: my counselor said this shouldn’t affect my chances of being admitted but that I neeeeed to get it done by then for sure.

ccc: city college of san francisco
gpa: 3.6? 3.7? 3.8? i have the weirdest thing happening to me where my unofficial transcript on my ccc portal gives me one gpa and when i reviewed my grades with my counselor, shows me another gpa. but i know my gpa is pretty average because i cannot raise my grade in any math course for the life of me.
pie: im actually confident with this.
igetc: one physical science course/lab and i’ll be done by summer 2019. i talked to my counselor about it and she said it won’t affect my chances of getting admitted (unless it’s berkeley) as long as i complete it by summer 2019.

I work overnight shifts so I’m up to posting my application detail…
My Application Stats:
Major: Art, emphasis on painting and sculpture*
GPA: 3.92 (one B in Statistics)
Personal Insight Questions: Surprisingly well received! I spoke to a reviewer at the UCLA Transfer-mation Personal Insight Review back in November, and they had positive things to say. I’m not an excellent writer, but I felt my responses were unique and well-composed. 8/10?
IGETC: complete
Pre-requisites: complete
Supplemental Application: moderately strong portfolio, maybe 7/10. My concepts were good but the actual photos were low quality, I had to borrow a camera.
EC: mostly work experience…Im 26 and worked instead of school for several years. I’ve been lucky to work in the art and design fields, but I don’t have any internships or legit academic background besides community college. Commercial artwork, My ECs are Gallery shows, Gallery show management, And two long-running community service projects. I’m gonna say 5/10, cus I feel it may not be what a UC is looking for.
Applied: UCLA, UCSB, UCSC, UCSD, UCB, UCI
Accepted: UCSB, UCSC (invited for the transfer scholarship for SC)
Attended Imagine UCLA Arts event last week, was “recommended for admission” by art department faculty. That’s supposed to be a good sign re:admission.
*Side note: I was almost about to apply in Spanish and double-major with Art, as I have the prerequisite courses in all A’s, but it’s easier to add a language double major than an art double major, according to a college counselor. @stackofsocks , let me know if you’ve heard anything about double majoring in language studies?
@stackofsocks Hi! I’m applying as a Japanese major as well. It’s so nice to see that I’m not alone! I’m also hoping to double major in linguistics.

IGETC: Pending Completion
Major pre-reqs: Completed
EC: BIG ONION ENERGY
Accepted: N/A
Pending: UCI, UCSD, UCLA, UCB
@FourLeafLife I’m sorry, I don’t know anything in specific but I do agree that it would probably be easier to add a language major, especially since they don’t have as many requirements. In the end, the majors we choose are only intended and we still need to declare anyway so I think it’s doable as long as there is available space in the major you’re looking to add and you fulfill the requirements!
@Pastry12 Yay!! Not many people apply to this major so I wasn’t expecting to find anyone here and you already have JLPT N1 too! I only have JLPT N2 (planning on taking N1 in December) and I’m hoping that’ll be enough ? If we both go to the same school I guess we’ll be in the same departments! Is UCLA your top choice?
Thread for hopeful Fall 2019 UCLA Transfer students!
Looks like Mods reopened the original thread and combined the new one
@tsun23 yeah all the comments from the part 1 thread are integrated with this part 2 thread. Seems everything is okay now!
Omg I had several pages to catch up on and all the posts from the onion man to dropping ig handles gave me whiplash lmao I almost forgot that this was a forum about UCLA
Also I’m so tempted to drop my @, but I also like staying anonymous lol
Just so we’re clear on concept, **that/b is what caused the thread to get shut down last night. Posting of personal information, including IDs on social media, is not allowed, nor is soliciting PMs to get that information. The moderators’ expectation is that users will follow the rules, because if we need to close the thread again for cleaning, we will take our sweet time before/if we reopen.
Since everyone’s dropping their stats might as well post mine too!
Major: Sociology (Linguistics and English alternate major)

Personal Insight Essays: I’d say 8/10. They’re pretty solid essays where I got a bunch of feedback from counselors and tutors.
IGETC: Yes, will complete this semester.
TAP: Yes. I got A’s in all my honors classes that I’ve taken so far.
Pre-Reqs: Done

Major: Comparative Literature
GPA: 3.45 (Around there some classes I took were non-transferable, also had academic renewal)

IGETC: Finished
TAP: Yep! TAP GPA is 4.0 lol
