UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@8CLAP4SUP I mean…it really isn’t a big deal. I just mentioned it haphazardly. and also it was on my form for my honors GPA so I mean TAP doesn’t really have much big impact idk in my point of view

@GoodAfternoonSir In addition, she’s right for the most part. The limit for honors courses per semester, in general, is 2.

Major: Art History
Tap: No (my school/counselors never talked about this until the last day to do it, so ugh)
GPA: 3.81
Personal Insight Questions: First one was really good, the rest we’re okay
IGETC: complete
Pre-reqs: Will be complete this semester
EC: pretty good
Applied: UCLA, UCSD, UCB, UCSB
Accepted: UCSB

Major: Comparative Literature
Tap: (see I didn’t know what this was so I put English because I thought that was the closest to my major lol)
Gpa: 3.45 (I’m taking 17 units this semester so it’ll go up)
Igetc: complete
Pre reqs done
Ec I have a lot I don’t want to enter it here because they’re very specific

Applied: UCR, Uci, UCSB, ucla, UCSD, usc, Univeristy of Washington, lmu, csula, csun, cpp
Accepted: UCR, csun, Csula, cpp, lmu
Waiting: Uci, UCSB, UCSD, Ucla, usc,

TAP doesn’t even guarantee admission. Some people are like “blah blah 80% chance of getting accepted, oh im so jealous of people who TAP”

@8CLAP4SUP Well my coordinator didn’t say anything about limitations on how many honors courses you can take per semester. In fact, he said that I could’ve taken all 5 honors courses in one semester if I wanted to. Too bad i didn’t knew UCLA wouldn’t accept more than one honors course in spring otherwise i’d just take four in the fall 2018 semester and one in the spring 2019 semester

@MrAcceptUC2k That’s true but there’s no need to be passive about it. It’s an honest mistake.

Okay my bad
But that 90smix was also supporting with non clickable links. Wanted to point out

@mracceptuc2k No one said it was a guarantee, but it is true that it absolutely raises your chances. TAP gives you a GPA boost in addition to making the admissions staff take more care with your app. Of course people still get rejected (especially if they have a low gpa or missing prereqs) but a lot of the TAP people on this thread are 3.7+ so they have a very good chance of acceptance.

Also if you’re curious this is the link that @90smix posted: https://uscollegeinternational.com/2017/04/13/transfer-admission-guarantee-university-california/

There’s a way to have a nice civil discussion without being backhanded

Does anyone know potentially when admissions decisions will be released?

@MrAcceptUC2k I think she typed it out like that on purpose so the post didn’t get removed from having a link. I’m sure if you removed the spaces/typed it out yourself you might get the website.

Ok to you both

Willowstill why you mad? For pointing it out
Call it backhanded or whatever. It doesn’t matter

That article doesn’t even cite the percentage for TAP UCLA students but only for UCB.

@PoliticalNerd I personally think it’s next week. It’s possible the last full week of april. I know the trend is ucla before berkeley but i don’t think it’s happening this year

@GoodAfternoonSir Aw man, if I’m being honest bro, I think your coordinator might have given you wrong information. Brennan Burnett and Deborah Wong of UCLA told my school that students are only limited to two honors courses per semester. Wong is an associate director for TAP and is the primary TAP liaison; Burnett is the secondary TAP liaison. Things might have changed though, so idk.

Major: Art
GPA: 3.47 (taken at CCC) but I have prior international coursework that I have no idea how it would affect my GPA since I do not know what would transfer and what would not. (They’re also in trimester units)
Background: Filipino immigrant (moved here close to 7 years ago) fully independent working student
Essays: I’m quite confident it’s solid
EC: I work 40 hrs as a supervisor at a Senior Community.
Art Portfolio: Not Killer but shows skill and range
Art Essay: kind of crappy tbh
did not get open house invite

Schools Applied to
Accepted: CSULB, CSUF
Waiting: UCLA, UCI
Withdrew: SDSU (They wanted me to spend $160 on having my foreign transcript evaluated by an agency)

@8CLAP4SUP that’s wrong actually! My honors counselor personally called UCLA and asked if they have a restriction on how many classes, and they do not —ours was a school rule preventing how many. I am currently taking 4 honors classes and was TAP certified in February

I know the cc I go to says you can’t take x amount of honors classes in a semester before you transfer so idk could just be the cc regulations cause that makes sense like i said i never heard TAP having that rule

@llaauurenn Nice. Things definitely might have changed then. No harm to @GoodAfternoonSir btw, just wanted to relay the message I was given but apparently all is well!

What happened to the Part2 thread? Are we back? Hahaha

@MrAcceptUC2k to be honest, you’re coming off passive and even in the previous comments a few days ago you said everyone is going to get rejected. I don’t deny you want accuracy and I respect that but honestly some of the things you say are kinda rude
