@mracceptuc2k No one’s mad, but I agree with @surefineitsok. And I would say that being backhanded or rude does matter. Maybe you don’t mean to come across that way, but it’s good to be aware of your tone in text and make sure that you’re being respectful to others, even when you disagree.

that article doesn’t even cite the percentage for TAP UCLA students but only for UCB

Although UCLA does not state on its website, its TAP program also admits over 80% of students who participate in TAP programs according to community colleges’ TAP coordinators.

@llaauurenn Ok, this means I was double-crossed by my coordinator.

My coordinator said that I’m ineligible to be TAP certified because I’m taking more than one honors class the semester where I’m supposed to be tap certified. I’m assuming that you are using your 4 honors classes for the TAP certification you did in February correct? This means that what I initially wanted was actually possible and I could’ve become TAP certified despite taking three honors classes this semester.

I am really disappointed in my community college honors coordinator now.

RIP @GoodAfternoonSir sometimes those counselors are the worst. But I think you have a decent chance with your GPA.

@AeroDE Should I contact UCLA about this situation then? This is a legitimate issue that was out of my hands because of misinterpreted information from my honors coordinator himself, not just by some intern.

I have A’s in all of my Honors Classes and am expected to receive A’s in my final two honors classes this semester (one of them is already done and posted to transcript with A).

This is really unfair to me and I don’t deserve this, i did the work but couldn’t be certified due to my community college’s negligence

My first 2 counselors had me take unnecessary classes, good thing I got a much better counselor towards the end of my time CCC and got me on the right track.

@willowstil wait, we get a GPA boost for being TAP certified? I thought that only applied to the AD-T programs at the CSU’s.

@GoodAfternoonSir I think you should do it and ask. Because calling them doesn’t have any negative impact. The only concern I have is that they already reviewing our applications, but give it try if you would like to.

@willowstil does it really give a GPA boost for being TAP certified? I didn’t knew it nice

@GoodAfternoonSir I am TAP certified and took 3 Honors courses in Fall (All As hayyyy lol) and am taking 2 this semester. Maybe there was some misunderstanding on either your or his end?? Or maybe some policies are different at your CC? Who knows? but I would definitely do some research on TAP yourself via UCLA’s website before calling or asking anyone. It’s always best to go into a situation armed with knowledge so you can’t be steered in the wrong direction

@holatomm Oh no I asked him repeatedly many times throughout fall 2018 if I can take more than 1 honors class in spring 2019 before transferring and become TAP certified. He simply said I can’t and UCLA doesn’t allow it.

I was a bit shocked and disappointed too. The only reason I completed the honors program at this point was to verify on my application that it will be completed this semester, otherwise I didn’t get any benefit out of this.

@holatomm @AeroDE I emailed UCLA admissions through the student portal regarding this situation and I’ll let you know what they say. Hopefully they’ll respond within a day.

@GoodAfternoonSir or might as well call later at 1pm to get yourself a peace of mind. I’m pretty sure they’ll be helpful enough just as long as you don’t ask when they will release decisions. Lol

To be honest I don’t think there’s anything you can do at this point? Your cc counselor made a mistake or maybe it was the way your tap program was set out at your college so what is UCLA going to do about it ?

Not sure how reliable this source is, but according to Ms. Sun decisions are supposed to be released today.

@goodafternoonsir that’s unfortunate your advisor said that. However, if you have a string GPA, it shouldn’t matter.

@UniColn if the policies that were laid out to me by my cc was incorrect, I have a right to voice my concern to UCLA admissions and let them know about this. If there’s even a small chance I can become TAP certified due to this mistake made by the people who couldn’t do their jobs correctly, then I’ll take it.

Also, if not me then perhaps I can receive credible and correct information about this process assuming I’m correct. That way I can inform the staff at my cc about this and hopefully, they won’t make this mistake with another student.

@GoodAfternoonSir you should go for it, that sounds suspect.

However, I would have to wonder if CCCs just have some discretion on who they want to let into TAP. At my CCC, the counselors said that the limit for honors courses in the final semester was 2(if you were trying to hit 5 total still). Other posters have said different numbers, so I’m wondering if they just have some independence?

Is today out of the question for release date ?
