I’m pretty nervous. I got into Cal but I’m scared I won’t get into UCLA. I wasn’t expecting admission to Cal and I’m so grateful for it, but I’m trying to picture myself there and I can’t. I heard its so competitive and everyone is just depressed or stressed all the time. It’s an amazing school but I don’t know how I’d feel going somewhere where I might be miserable. I’m getting really anxious now
@cam34568 I’m freaking out as well. I got rejected from Berkeley and somehow waitlisted to Cal Poly SLO, even though I have a 4.0. I know Berkeley was the hardest but I’m slowly losing hope and having so much anxiety. I only have UCLA and UCSD left and I have nowhere to go if I don’t get into those.
@JakeRice40
huh i dont see why you were rejected from berk, esp SLO…
are you an out of state student or did you not finish prereqs?
@anenglishmajor you should feel more confident about ucla if you got into Berkeley! Berkeley and UCLA are very close in terms of who they accept. But I agree I would be miserable at Berkeley and didn’t want to go anyway but it’s just making me so nervous because I got waitlisted. I feel like the people who got rejected or waitlisted should be a little worried now (me)! I would feel way more comfortable if I got accepted to Berkeley so don’t feel anxious!
@cam34568 Thank you for the support. I really hope I get into UCLA, but I’m going to try to remain open to Berkeley because it still is an amazing opportunity and I shouldn’t take it for granted. And I hope everything works out for you!
i know i would be so depressed at berkeley. my friend goes to berkeley and she says she has never been more depressed in her life. she says it is so competitive that people will be cruel and mean to you (due to UCB’s deflation of grades).
@JakeRice40 yup I’m feeling the exact same way! I got waitlisted from Berkeley though…I’m losing hope too because of all the stats Ive been obsessing over. Berkeley and UCLA are insanely close when it comes to my major (Berkeley acceptance rate for my major: 45% gpa: 3.4-3.9 and UCLA acceptance rate: 48% gpa: 3.5-3.9. Since I got waitlisted I’m not sure I’ll get into UCLA, the only thing giving me hope is that 3% higher acceptance rate lol! But still…barely have hope now
@jakerice40 I can understand how freaked you are. First off, call Berkeley and ask why. Crucial. Maybe there’s grounds for an appeal. They do make mistakes. Next, stay strong. Easier said then done under the circumstances but I suspect at least one will pan out.
Got accepted by Haas school of UCB. However, I am not going to UCB because I live in SoCal. But more important, I dont like that school area and dont fit the environment.
I got nervous for UCLA since UCLA and UCI are my top choice. Luckily, I got accepted by UCI. Hopefully, I can get into UCLA as well.
@lizzyyykkk well I went to Oregon for 2 quarters and then transferred to a California community college around where I live and finished out there. As far as I know I have all the requirements finished. I’m not THAT worried about UCB because I’m a business major and it’s very hard to get into Haas, but I still can’t explain why I got waitlisted to SLO. It makes me very worried that I missed something or missed a requirement.
@orinji I’m confused about the application process too! I haven’t finished the general application because I’m confused about the EC’s and volunteer work section. Can we not put anything past high school?
@Ohm888 thank you, I need that so badly. I don’t have any friends at CC so I’m the only one going through this and it’s tough. I don’t feel great hanging my hopes on great schools like UCLA and UCSD, but I still am trying to be strong and stay hopeful
@cam34568 I know how you feel, but keep holding out hope! UCLA and UCB are both great but also very different at the same time. Perhaps you’re just a much better fit for UCLA. If you don’t get in, you’ll be feeling bad of course. So don’t let that hang over the next 5 days and ruin those too. Keep yourself distracted and let’s both hope we can get in.
I didn’t even apply to Berkeley yet I’m getting secondhand anxiety from seeing a bunch of ya’ll who got waitlisted/rejected with high qualifications.
Are our applications read by the admissions counselors assigned to our schools? Or are the applications randomly assigned to readers?
@Ohm888 Will they really give you a reason why you got rejected if you go there or call? I live close by and stopping in is a possibility. I wouldn’t go in entitled in any way, it would just really help me decide what I should do with my life if they told me why. For instance, if it was my poor grades from one semester 10 years ago, there’s nothing I can do about that and I’ll just move on with my life. If it was a lack of strongly recommended courses or non-STEM coursework I might consider taking those classes and applying next year.
They specifically say they won’t tell you why in the rejection FAQ so I was under the impression that they would stick by that. It would really be great if they did tell us though; I don’t see why they shouldn’t.
Yooooo I’m so curious too
@left_hand usually Berkeley will tell you. Some UCs won’t.
SIRed to Berkeley just now
lol RIP UCLA~ Might have considered UCLA if it came out earlier. Probably the last time I’ll be active in the UCLA thread. Love y’all and the vibe here! Good luck to those still waiting for UCLA decisions.
Got admitted to UC Berkeley today, but I really want to get admitted to UCLA because UCLA is my top choice and has been my dream school…
I have not got the regents email either… I am really nervous if they reject me T.T… My GPA is solid, and my major is not as competitive as biz-econ or computer science. But I am working on one of my pre-reqs now and skipped one math course, which is waived by the admission office.
