UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@ucdochopeful2k19 I think that’s a tough question to answer, as I imagine that it would depend on what batch of people apply for that major. Let’s say the majority of them are missing prerequisites, then your high GPA might stand out ya know, but if they all have 4.0s and all the prereqs your chances would slim.

@“Jay.C” if it’s the school you want to go to who cares when they start, imo

@willowstil it basically means that you took the loss (L). Like if one didn’t get accepted into a school, they took the loss (hope that makes sense lol)

@ucdochopeful2k19
imma be brutally honest and say that there is no real answer to give you. who knows if you will get in, we are not part of the admissions committee. from the sound of your stats ofc it looks promising but there are so many other factors at play here. no disrespect to you, but all these “chance me” posts are pointless. we are all waiting for ucla and we all want to get in, but only some of us will make it.

@“Jay.C” I’d choose UCLA (but that’s because I like it more there and I’m impatient and wouldn’t want to wait a semester to start school). I suggest you visit both campuses and see which one you like more (and if you think it’s worth waiting to go to UC Berkeley). Also, I highly recommend talking with students in your major at both schools to get a better feel for what it would be like.

I got into Cal and my heart is so full, :slight_smile: but I think it’s made me realize I’m really into UCLA. I think I’ll choose UCLA if I get in!! AHHH best of luck to yall

@slimreaper I totally see what you’re saying and haven’t even posted a “chance me” thing. I’m not that type of person, but being rejected yesterday and just this whole process has been really taxing and I suppose I was looking for some guidance.

@ucdochopeful2k19 to be fair, you did list some of your stats then asked the thread if you stood a chance lol. but i get you, this whole process has put almost all of us transfer students on edge. another 4 days of stress and agony woohoo! hope you get in bro!

@gappy123 congrats!!! i was also accepted into berk but its only made me realize how much more i actually want to attend ucla. if i get into ucla im def turning down ucb! i was talking with some of my friends that transferred to cal last year and almost all of them said they were also admitted to ucla! this is great news for us :slight_smile: good luck

I was waitlisted yesterday to Cal, but I’m tapped to UCLA. I’m hoping that since it seems that admission to Cal can be sort of a predictor for admission to UCLA, that the TAP will push me over the edge for acceptance to UCLA, but maybe that’s too much speculation and just me trying to be hopeful.

@JakeRice40

Cal Poly SLO Business Administration major had 2090 transfer applicants
for 100 spots. It is very competitive.

@TheMaSharng That’s the same mindset I have. We can only hope.

@hoppy1 wow, is it always that competitive? That’s a ridiculously small amount of spots

@“Comm.ingforU” Yep, I’m a Comm major too! Hopefully things work in our favor.

@jakerice50 just call and ask. I know people who have been told specifically by Berkeley and over the years people up here have posted about responses. If they say no, you wasted three minutes. It’s up to you to decide if you would like to at least attempt to know.

@JakeRice40

They had around 1500 applicants for 90 or so spots
till 2018, then 2000 applicants for 100 spots in 2018
and 2019.

It has been always competitive lately.

@Ohm888 okay, I will call and ask them on Monday. Thank you

@jakrice40 maybe they altered their policy but it won’t hurt. Good luck!

@hoppy are you sure? I actually got admitted to cal poly slo for business but got rejected at Berkeley. It seems strange judging by how few transfers get in to cal poly
