Yeah I could be totally wrong I’m just reporting what I have read on the internet. It is weird to ask about the summer from high school to college.
There is no rhyme or reason why they ask anything. Asking about gap year is very common even when stated in the application. I can’t see that request as weighing the balance of an application.
Anyone up for chancing? Thanks for any help!
Transferring from an instate CC:
- White male, 22 years old (I know they don't really look at this)
- English major
- 3.72 GPA (near 4.0 for English classes, got one B in a creative writing class of all places)
- Completed all of IGETC (GE requirements)
- Will have an AA-T degree end of semester (on accident--this is really only helpful for CSU, right?)
- Completed all major requirements (I think?)
- Been an English peer tutor for over 2 years on campus (but this is really my only EC )
- Pretty confident that my personal statements are above average
- History of mental illness (a fairly big focus of my PS)
- Lower class
- Not entirely sure what else is helpful to add (made Dean's list 4 times, does that matter at all? lol)
Thanks again for any help
Does anyone know if AP credits are counted towards your total college unit count? This is because without AP I will only be able to complete 59 units by the end of this Spring and UC requires junior transfer to have at least 60 units.
@sagaciousforever they definitely do, one of my friends transferred with like 56 units because he took a ton of AP classes in high school. Idk the details but you should call admissions to make sure they have your correct units to transfer as a junior.
@sleepypolarbear Thanks for answering! Hopefully I will have a shot because I only have 3 units from AP so a total of 62 units only. Transferable units will be even fewer because not every class that I took at my current institution can be transferred to UCLA.
I applied to UCLA from a 4-year private institution.
@capnlonelygale Deans list will help. If your essays are good then you have a good shot.
@Ohm888 @Gumbymom any chance you guys know how the chronology of Art Major Application is? Is it UCLA Admissions first, then Art Department? Or Art Department first, then UCLA Admissions?
What I remember from the last couple of years regarding art dept at UCLA is they invite applicants the dept is interested in to an open house. That’s a good sign. However it then is up to admissions, in the sense of verifying you have completed requirements, etc. There may also be too many applicants, so I suppose that might come into play. So art dept has a list, but then admissions finalizes it.
@Ohm888 yeah I’ve read a lot about that open house invite thing. I’m really praying!
Has anyone here received an “Immediate Response Request” email from the University of California? I have received two now, and for both times I realized that it says “In case of technical difficulties using this page, please email (UCD Admissions email)” at the very bottom of the webpage. Does this mean it’s Davis who specifically want these requests fulfilled?
@8CLAP4SUP I got one late Feb also but I just noticed that on mine too yesterday when I re-opened it. I never applied to UCD though. Only to UCLa and UCI
@8CLAP4SUP My email also says that. But I did not apply to UCD so I’d assume it is just a general message that everyone gets.
For UCLA business economics students right now (or used to be), I am wondering if it is possible to be admitted if you are currently in a business administration track who have completed intro economics, calculus, english, and accounting classes.
UCLA does not have business administration for undergraduate so I am worried but I still applied to Business Economics since UCLA was my dream school back in high school.
I lean towards to UCB HAAS more now since I directly applied to their business school. I study at a top 50, 4-year university in California.
Did anyone else attend the STOMP conference yesterday?? Very insightful and got to get info straight from the horse’s mouth!!
@holatomm No, what info did they give out?
@IBkidonthestreet A ton of information on transfer admission criteria and requirements for all of the UCs, as well as resources for transfer students (and undergrad students in general) at UCLA including research opportunities, major specific academic advising, transfer student center, etc.
Any transfers who got into UCLA business economics? I am wondering if it is possible to be admitted if you are currently in a business administration track who have completed intro economics, calculus, english, and accounting classes.

Hey guys! I’m applying as a Pre-Global Studies transfer and a lot of my credits are from AP tests. Should I submit the official scores from College Board to UCLA now? Or wait until they notify me of their admissions decision, and it turns out I was accepted?
My friend also told me today that the date for admission notifications will be delayed because of the recent exposure of those high-profile people paying their kids’ ways into these top schools? She said that apparently UCLA had done some of that this year, and now they’re correcting this. I don’t really believe this, since UCLA wasn’t involved in the scandal (which I was very happy about), but I’m probably skeptical too because I just want to get the notification ASAP LOL
