UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Okay cool thats what i thought :relieved: Trynna buy some off offer up

@mpineda3247 You mean for 2019?

Y’all know if I could change my major I get accepted? I would probably die as biochem so I would like to do something less cutthroat (I dunno if the other bio majors are just as a bad lol)

I imagine youd have to check with ucla. When i got into ucsd as psych, it was literally not an option for me to change to anything capped, so anything bio, engineering, uh i forgot what else, kinda why i withdrew.

let me know what you find out though! Im interested in options :kissing:

i wanted to go to UCLA for bizecon, but UCLA doesn’t have an undergrad business program. The econ department over there isn’t that great according to my friends who are econ majors there. UCLA was my dream school in high school, but life takes us where we are meant to be and it worked out for me in the end, better than I could have ever imagined.

So happy and thankful I got into Cal for Economics, ranked #4 in the nation with over 22 nobel laureates for the department!!

Good for you @katyamzz! Waiting to be swept off my feet too :heartbreak:

@Princetonian9 THANKS! HANG IN THERE BUDDY! Just a couple more days until UCLA comes out!~

:love:

Hey guys, does anyone know if alternate major (in UC application) even matter for non-TAP applicants?

@green7tea Nope it does not.

@Chez59 Let’s hope we both receive good news this upcoming Wednesday! :smiley:

As for the belief that being rejected from UCB = acceptance to UCLA is just a personal thing that I’ve seen with my friends and classmates. It’s not factual in any way, but a mere coincidence I guess haha.

I do believe that UCs interact with one another in regards to what kinds of applicants they want though. Yes, each UC wants the best of the best, but they also have their own personal criteria in looking for potential students, which means that schools know if an individual will fit in better/do better on a particular campus. I’ve read about it online, and cannot confirm its accuracy, but it doesn’t seem like complete BS (at least to me).

But anywho, being rejected from UCB does not mean you’ll for sure get into UCLA. This doesn’t mean that you’ll for sure be rejected either. UCs are supposed to evaluate us as individuals, but sometimes I get skeptical.

All in all, I hope that each and every person on this thread receives good news this upcoming Wednesday!

Does anyone forsure exact Ucla release date? Does Ucla also look at applications “holistically”?

@salllykim If I get in, I would definitely choose UCLA over Cal! I feel like I would be much happier at UCLA, and since both schools have top 10 sociology programs, I don’t feel like there’s enough of a difference in quality or prestige to justify going to Cal and being unhappier. How about you?

@riodreams UCLA is confirmed to release on Wednesday, April 24th, probably around 5pm based on previous years.

They look at applications holistically and they do read the essays, as per page 44 on this document: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/quick-reference-2018.pdf

Hey guys! We’ll be hearing soon! I’m kinda nervous. Also anyone else apply to SD?

@surefineitsok Same here but I’m more anxious about SD tho. I was able to get into cal for biochem but my top picks are SD>LA>Cal. I can’t wait :dizzy:

Hi guys I’ve been in the thread for a while now and it’s honestly the liveliest one! Can you guys let me know how much chance I have?
From a ccc
Major: Biology, alternate major MCDB
GPA: 3.78
Prereqs: all done!
Igetc: done
TAP: yes
EC: Secretary of the pre med club, Coordinator in the Student council, 2 publications, one on going research and one done in the summer at a UC. Volunteer at the hospital every week for 4 hours!
I thought my essays were pretty legit!
I’ve gotten rejected from berkeley and am really scared that UCLA will reject me too!

@Bruinlove2019 Check out the admission by major page and see the admission rate for your major

@DocCbas It is solely up to the department. The majors that’s a firm no is psychology, econ, and biz econ.
