UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@HarleyTheQuinn Yeah I checked, and I saw that some of them got in. So technically it isn’t a negative sign so I’ll still cross my fingers

@slimreaper LOL No you’re good :smiley:

@HarleyTheQuinn How do you try the trick if you already have a MyUCLA account? I also have done a summer session.

@TheMaSharng Anytime you log on when it’s near the date of admissions release, there’s supposedly a tab between “My Features” and “Classes” that says “New Students” which might appear and then disappear later. Also, supposedly if you’re able to view your Financial Aid Awards on the website, it means you got in. I’ve heard that the administrators update MyUCLA sometimes near the date of admissions based on the old forums.

Keyword here though: supposedly. It may or may not be a trick for all of us.

@HarleyTheQuinn Alright thank you. I’m not under any pretension that this will work, but I need a way to waste some time right now.

@ishitak same message on mine

I was able to create a new log in it showed me a UCLA.EDU email address with my information? It was in one of the left hand side tabs when you create the account. Then when I went to log back in it said you can not access at this time!? Not sure what any of it means but it was worth trying.

@Miniman1673 same thing happened to me. I was able to see the email address at first. Then I closed all the tabs and tried to log in again but I couldn’t. I don’t think it means anything.

@AeroDE Hey man, I always email the UCLA admissions department through my student portal. They usually reply back to me less than 24 hours so I don’t understand why they haven’t responded to you yet.

I’m kinda curious, what’s your major and GPA btw? haha sorry for being so random I’m just wondering for some reason :slight_smile:

Also, my appeal process for UC Berkeley Haas is going well and Mrs. Sun has agreed to help me in this process. She’s charging me 280$ which sucks but doesn’t matter much to me because I received a full-ride to davis and I’ll only attend USC if they give me a good financial package, so this is not much compared to what I’ll get later :wink:

Also, I don’t want to think later and regret not appealing when I had a chance to do so before. Plus, I’ve got a lot of baggage to share with them so it’s gonna be interesting hehe.

I’m also not expecting to be admitted to UCLA. If my thoughts are true on the 24th then i will make the payment to Mrs. Sun and proceed with her help on the appeal process. If i get into UCLA then i won’t bother appealing to berkeley since Business economics is extremely prestigious in its own right. If I get rejected then yeah i’ll proceed with the appeal process with Mrs sun.

dumb question. how do we know if we are tap certified? I filled out the paperwork a while back, but I never received a confirmation.

@okurrr that’s just how it is. I personally asked a counselor at my CCC, “Hey, why haven’t you told me anything, this seems like a fairly important thing”, and they said: “No news is good news,” which is literally the exact opposite of how it should be, but I don’t know. Sometimes people don’t think it be like it is, but it do.

I would suggest maybe asking a counselor you know personally and who works with TAP if everything is ok just for peace of mind.

I’m kind of freaking out a bit because I just realized I forgot to check that I was in TAP under the “California Community College Transfer Admission Programs” section on the application. I already mentioned I was in the program under Educational Preparation and am certified. That should be fine, right?

@HarleyTheQuinn I did not do that either because I got Tapped after the application was sent in, so I thought that I shouldn’t. I’m sure you don’t really have to tell them though. At least from what a counselor told me, they physically ship the TAP files through FedEx. There’s no way that they can’t tell that the “HarleyTheQuinn” from the TAP file is the same one that applied through the online app.

@TheMaSharng Whew. Gotcha. Thanks!

Anyone that tried the my Ucla account trick have something under “relationships”? I think it should say student or something if you got accepted… I don’t think I got in ???

How big of a role does extracurriculars and essays play in terms of acceptance?
For example, if some one has all of their major prep done and a 4.0, would they not get in because of a lack of extracurriculars or boring essays?
I feel like the process is not as “holistic” when compared to the freshman applications. I feel like major prep and gpa is sort of all that matters right? and the other stuff can just help borderline applicants with lower gpa’s get admitted.
Let me know what you guys think or if I’m completely wrong haha.
Just tryna pass the time and spark some conversation lol

@Duvergay Hey! I applied as a film and television major!

@africangirl97 It is too early for you to know for sure. Just ignore the portal, people didn’t report changes until the night before/day of UCLA releasing decisions last year. We only have three days. Don’t stress yourself out even more by considering the portal.

@GoodAfternoonSir I don’t understand why either… If they don’t reply me back by Monday, I’m gonna ask my CC honors coordinater if she did the update I sent her on February to my TAP form.
When I went to her office in February, the front desk told me she isn’t there and just write down the update I want her to do. I’m freaking out if she did the update to my TAP form or not.

Major: Biochemistry/Bio
GPA: 3.7

Nice deal, but little pricey LMAO :lol: That’s a good plan tho, and Congrats! on getting a full ride to Davis. "Plus, I’ve got a lot of baggage to share with them so it’s gonna be interesting hehe."Of course, there was a lot!
Hopefully, we both will hear some good news in the coming week! Don’t lose hope, but I’m already freaking out if I will get rejected and UCI is my backup…

@HeyItsNick thanks ?? you really helped calm me down
