Has anyone ever heard of an art major being rejected even after being recommended for admission by their department/being invited to the Imagine UCLA Arts event (assuming they meet all of UCLA’s academic requirements)? I’ll have my IGETC/pre-reqs done by the end of the semester & I’m pretty confident in my essays, but my GPA is only ~3.5 so I’m worried that they’ll ding me for that. I know that the supplemental application is the most important part, but…
I’ll be in my yoga class at my college (need it to graduate) until 6 on Wednesday… so much for being zen lol, idk how I’m gonna focus!
So I tried “the trick” and it gave me access to not much. My biggest takeaway was creating the UCLA email account. And I know I’m getting ahead of myself but it just looked right. I love my name attached to @ucla.edu!! So right now the discouraging feeling of getting denied by Cal has diminished. Fingers crossed I get into UCLA now!! I still have UCI, UCSC and UCSB as backups but I suddenly feel UCLA is my destination.
@sagaciousforever earlier in thread there was a mention of a “trick” where one would create a user account and then go about seeing what access one has through the portal. Without having the required 9-digit code given with admission, not much is available in terms of access. But you do create your username and address which made it all worth it. Just seeing my name gave me tangible hope.
@90smix Hey congrats on Cal fellow fhda student I quit all social media a while back which was really good for me, but now I don’t get the small satisfaction of updating my bios haha
in case anyone was wondering, we have roughly 66 hours until decisions come out… which can also be translated into 66 episodes of whichever show we want to binge
@anenglishmajor Nah, no UCLA transfer decisions have come out yet, and there is no TAG for UCLA. All the decisions will be released at the same time this Wednesday, April 24th. Maybe your friend was talking about another UC, like UCSB?
Ugh this wait is killing me! Is Wednesday confirmed as the decision date? Would love to find out tomorrow also any UCI as a second choice people here? I’m a returning student and even though I’m a little passed the making friends stage, would still love to do that and maybe get a start via this thread hehehe Socializing after transferring is already giving me more anxiety lol
@Chikahlove Per UCLA’s Udergraduate Admissions’ voicemail, the target date for transfer decision release is Wednesday, April 24th after 5pm PDT. I feel they will stick to that.
@AeroDE I wonder if “Ratemyprofessor” is worth using at a UC. Might not be as useful as in CC Since classes fill up so quickly at UC’s due to so many students that you have get whoever is available. Plus, there might not be multiple people teaching a certain subject at a certain time which sucks with all the extracurricular activities/internships/clubs you need to consider during school.
5:00am here in Los Angeles! Can’t sleep because if I’m not thinking about admissions decisions— I’m dreaming about them! Haha but at least decisions are (pretty much) confirmed to arrive Wednesday 04/24 5:00PM PST. My friend asked an admissions officer while at a program for UCLA CCCP this past weekend who confirmed the date, and apparently the UCLA admissions voicemail says this as well. Good luck everyone!
@slimreaper Yep, I can hardly focus lol. I’m trying to eat as much and focus in school so I don’t get worse but it’s lock a blockage to my brain. I lowkey feel like throwing up if I think about it more. :neutral:
