UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@HarleyTheQuinn oh I didn’t see that! I just saw the GPA range and since I’m so nervous I automatically panicked

@the444 @HarleyTheQuinn

It’s not an average. That 3.69 is an actual individual data point that was the 25th percentile of all the accepted GPAs.

@TheMaSharng Oh yea forgot that haha. Thanks for clarifying. Same point applies though, it isnt a hard cut off GPA

Anyone with a language major, I just got an email from the UCLA admissions rep who comes to my ccc, I sent it like 2 weeks ago during the panic but she replied today. She said
"In regards to your question please know that when we state, “OR at least one year of high school in which the primary language of instruction was a modern European language” this would mean that a student must have attended for example as you stated “a French school” rather than just having taken French classes in high school.

I can’t recall what exact AP exams you took and the score you received.  However, for example, if you scored a 3 on the AP French Langauge and Culture exam, that score would be equivalent to our French 4 course. Due to the score received we would honor the four semesters of French. Therefore you would have enough course credit to cover the two years of a modern European language other than English needed for the European Studies major."

Why do I feel like she made the mistake of using 4 quarters as 4 semesters. But who cares! I got all my pre reqs doneeee wuh wuhhhh :heart:

Hi guysss, so I went to UCLA on the 20th for a saturday bootcamp with cccp and a UCLA staff member told me that his estimate was that decisions would release this friday instead of Wednesday. UGH if thats true, ima die.

@GoodAfternoonSir agreed if those classes are limited like you said. But maybe joining a frat/sorority will help with that.

@the444 sociology is tough at UCLA due to a lot of applicants to the major. Last year 1387 transfers applied to it and 35% accepted. Versus a less in demand major with 29 applicants and 66% acceptance. There is always hope though so stay positive! My daughter also a sociology hopeful. She has a 4.0 gpa but only EC is working 25-35 hrs. No clubs or leadership. She was denied at Cal. ECs can make a big difference I think if you have them. Best of luck!

good luck to all you sociology majors!! the program at UCLA is so great!! im a pre-public affairs major and im so nervous, its brand new and was listed for the first time this past 2018 fall. idk if this means my chances are decent or basically none since its so new rip

“Food + programs at UCLA is so great” …

Is @GoodAfternoonSir ban?

@AeroDE it seems @GoodAfternoonSir banned but why? I don’t get it.

So Im scared I might not get in for my major, which is English. The admit range is like a 3.6 and I have a 3.56 so I’m right below that. What do you guys think??

@sugarcane1 I’m not even sure, he was helpful here
He was the first person to find and confirm UCLA transfer decision date

this college confidential is creepy, they can just give someone a warning or time out for their first time of breaking any TOS.

I am a volunteer for baseball team in my city. The fact that UCLA keep sending me the invitation for their sports event makes me more nervous than ever. Business Econ major is so competitive, and i am trying to be positive.

@blmacali99 I’m an OOS transfer applicant! What’s your major?

It’s finals week for me and it’s really messing me up knowing that decisions are so close (and I keep getting distracted by it) when I need to be studying lol

@anenglishmajor We just went over the same thing with @the444 25% of people with a gpa lower than that got in

@polisci444 yes I did!

Thank you so much College Confidential!

He’s resurrected!

@Princetonian9 that’s not what that statistic means. It means that 25% of the people admitted for sociology had a GPA lower than 3.69. That is not the same thing as a 25% acceptance rate for people with a GPA less than 3.69.
