UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Ok! Thank you all very much! Y’all calmed me down a little bit haha

Not sure if anyone posted this yet but my CCCP peer mentor told me that decisions are wednesday 5pm

@Princetonian9 Lol!

@Chikahlove - Yeah my top 2 choices are UCI and UCLA. I was already accepted to Irvine with TAG. If I get into UCLA I’d definitely go there. If not, Irvine is super great and I’m fine with it bc we all know UCLA is competitive lol. Definitely anxious to hear back from them on Wednesday

@megprit you need a math class lol doesn’t matter which one one semester is required to complete or be complete prior to transfer.

@UniCoIn Oh absolutely 100%. I understand that, but you dont need IGETC for transfer. You can use IGETC or the schools specific gen reqs (which includes math). When i responded to you and said “no it does not”, I was responding to you saying you needed igetc

Again with the debate over the release date??? C’mon guys, we have had multiple people with reliable sources involved with UCLA confirm that they will release Wednesday.

Hey @nugnugnugnug I see that you’re a ling & CS application as well. I was wondering if you’re OOS?

Hey! Any OOS ling and comp Sci majors here as well?

at this point, i’m just gonna assume decisions are on Wednesday and then get pissed after 5pm if they don’t come out haha

no reason for any extra stress!!

Lets keep the release date debate hot!

@Chikahlove same here! I’m hoping to get into UCLA but if not I’ve already been admitted to UCI and I’ll just go there. Is your first name Chika???

anyone else still lowkey hoping decisions will come out on the 17th? fingers crossed

They clearly stated that decisions will be out April 24 after 5pm so I don’t see the point of debating on this topic.

Hey everybody, I was wondering if anyone could chance me? There’s like two days left till d-day but I think I want some sort of scale to see where I am at. Given my situation, I do not have the best GPA but I am TAP certified with a respectable amount of EC’s particularly within school involvement at my community college. Could someone please assess my stats and provide an outlook on my chances of making UCLA as a transfer?

here’s my stats!
TAP Certified
Major: Political Science (All Major prep complete) 3.5 GPA
Alt. major: Philosophy (All Alt. Major prep complete) 4.0 GPA
Race: Latino (Male)
Overall GPA: 3.32 (significant upward grade trend)
Work experience: CC on-campus job (Campus tour guide/ front desk personell)
ECs: Political Science Club Officer, UC Irvine summer law program, volunteer hours within school departments/conference events, CC Honors program member
Accepted (so far) into: UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Cruz
Rejected: UC Berkeley
Waiting on: UCLA, UCSD, UCI
Essays: pretty good

Given my underqualified GPA for Political Science (which is highly impacted), I know that it seems highly unlikely I would be able to get into that major. However, would my alternate major in philosophy be a possibility for me? From what I’ve been told, the TAP program has an 80% acceptance rate, I know in respect to most students that are TAP certified having really high GPAs. But I’ve heard miracle stories about students with low GPAs getting into UCLA because of TAP. So is TAP being overrated or underrated? Given my particular stance, could my alt. major potentially save me for admission acceptance?

Thats tough cake guy. Hard spot, maybe the tap will do you some good though

@cakeguy10 Realistically, your chances are low. BUT, it is possible for you to be accepted into your alt-major because of TAP. The great thing about TAP is that it boosts your chances for your alt major if you don’t meet the GPA criteria for your main major if it’s altered. I wouldn’t say TAP is overrated or underrated. It’s more in between

There was a person on here though, user @UCLAFFF, who got accepted to their Philosophy major with a 3.0 GPA for Fall 2014. The average GPA admitted for that major at that time was 3.57! I messaged them a while back about how they were able to get in. Although the last time they were active on here was in 2017. I don’t know if they were TAP certified or not, though.

Crazy acceptance story! I have seen similar posts! I appreciate the honesty from the both of you, really insightful. I guess I don’t know what to expect haha, I’ll be sure to update my admissions decision when it comes.

Mine is still showing “Application Received”.

He’s gone. Lol
