UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Woah I took a nap and came back on here, what did I miss???

Nothing important

@Princetonian9 Lol! Good to know
@slimreaper I just checked right now and she doesn’t have me blocked haha I think it’s because I asked if she found out through email, I was trying to be really subtle rather than just straight up being like “how did you get in if they haven’t released admissions decisions yet”?

do you guys remember the UCLA “trick”? I emailed UCLA a question and they replied to my email. however, my email did not contain the UCLA ID number…

@okurrr They won’t always give out a UID

@the444 haha i couldnt help myself tbh, i hate people who publicly lie like that, its so unbelievably cringey and lame.

@slimreaper right?? Like what’s the point? and I thought it was kind of sus how she claimed to have gotten into ucla, berk, and davis but only posted a screenshot of Davis

@the444 To feel more elite and established because she wanted to be viewed as “successful” and “academically prestigious”.

WHY DO They feel the need to make Bruin day and trition day on the same day? They are doing us dirty by that and giving us late decision dates -_-

Hey guys can you guess my chances?
Since Berkeley rejected me I have been feeling really low and not confident about my chances with UCLA
So maybe some reinforcement from others would boost up my self esteem

Sex/race: F/ White (Middle Eastern)
GPA: 4.0
Major: History
Alt: Anthro
IGETC: Done
Reqs: Done
Essay: I had a Berkeley counselor help me with it so I hope they are good. Ironically, not good enough for Berkeley
Extra C: I was a counselor/ private tutor for at risk youth (ages 10-19) for 3 years (from Oct 2014- Jan 2018), I am 23 now so the last year and a bit I have been focusing on my education, as well as working as a barista on the side.
I included after school activity that was from when I was in Highschool but that was almost 8-5 years ago

I attended University in 2014-2015 outside the country and received pretty bad grades due to some personal stuff that was going on, and I stopped going after that year. So I fear that my Ds/Fs/ Ws that were on my transcript from 4 years ago will hurt my chances of getting in

any thoughts?

@givemethebones
I think your stats look good! From what I understand of transferring several years after high school, colleges don’t like to hear about what you did in high school. How do you think your essays were?

random question and update here:
-does anyone recall from the UC application process what website thing was called that we used to help put together and transfer our transcripts onto the application, it was linked by the UC application.

-I called regarding an error on my application that I have literally just become aware of and the women I spoke to twice said decisions were coming tomorrow, I know what the phone recording said because I heard it today and I dont know if it was just a fluke that she was saying tomorrow instead of saying Wednesday but yeah I thought people might be interested in that…

The tau!! Transfer academic update something like that lol @imstressin

@GoodAfternoonSir I just saw your posting about UCLA lying about their food, which triggers me because where I’m from, Virginia Tech has won award after award for their food

@Ruberi ???

I know UCLA offers a variety of clubs, activities, and events, but what can students do in the surrounding area? I know LA has some museums and market places but what are some go to/must do things in LA?

@UniCoIn im taking about in Nov, before we had updates there was a page where we filled out our transcripts ourselves on the application, but there was a link and you signed in and it linked to your school and pulled your info or something like that… I need to find it :confused:

Also: are there any precautions that people should be aware of in terms of living in LA? (ex. lots of traffic)

@imstressin It’s called the UC transfer academic planner (T.A.P.)

I still use it to accurately calculate my UC GPA from time to time. I’ll use it again after this semester.

@imstressin Ohhh, you mean TAP? The Transfer Admission Planner?
