UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@IBkidonthestreet
LA resident here! Traffic is really killer in the LA area. During high traffic it can take 45 minutes to get a few miles. I’d say don’t walk around alone at night, even on campus, because they do occasionally have muggings in Westwood. The public transportation system is pretty bad and not reliable.

Apart from that bad stuff, LA has a lot of fantastic and interesting spots to visit. I love Griffith park in particular.

So I filled out my TAP correctly and entirely yet my UC app was missing credits that I had stated on my TAP, was that just an error or did I do something wrong? I’ve only now figured this out thanks to UC davis letting me know and have taken steps to fix it with the UC’s I applied to but I will have to appeal a few and want to be able to clearly state what the problem was. Anyone have any ideas or similar issues they caught earlier?

Isnt WEHO close to campus? Im interested in that hahaha

Also, someone please chance me! Got rejected from Berkeley and it’s made me second guess everything. Ticket 3472

@IBkidonthestreet Santa Monica Pier! :slight_smile:

So decisions are coming out Wednesday

around 5ish supposedly

@imstressin I’m hoping the woman you spoke to just made a mistake twice and didn’t actually mean they were coming out tomorrow… but regardless that won’t stop me from checking the portal tmr every 5 minutes lmao

@the444 To feel more elite and established because she wanted to be viewed as “successful” and “academically prestigious”.

@the444 Why would you do that? UCLA’s voice message assures that it will come out on Wednesday 5pm (PST).

@sagaciousforever because the woman that @imstressin spoke to claimed they were coming out tomorrow, might have been her mistake. Maybe she thought today was tuesday, who knows, but that’s just me lol I’m constantly checking. Even with UCSB because of their rolling admissions.

@GoodAfternoonSir About how they’re like #1 for their food or something lol.

@IBkidonthestreet If you like theme parks, Universal Hollywood is a really nice park to enjoy.

@Ruberi Well they did claim that their food is ranked #1 in the nation. They’re food looks great and I heard great reviews from friends. I’m not too concerned if they’re #1 or not because if the food is great in taste and quality then that’s all that matters in my book

To be fair, the voicemail does not set Wednesday in stone. It says that that is the tentative date and it was posted last week. It could be tomorrow although most likely Wednesday.

Plus, it wouldn’t be a true last week of decisions without us stressing over what day the decisions are actually coming out on lol

@hafnium Well… hmmm… my essays are good apart from one, the Berkeley counselor also commented on it…
It was a recycled essay from when I was in highschool in 2013(?) I just kind of gave up with that essay and edited it a bit so that it would sound better. But overall pretty bad…

1 of my essays was about my experience with at risk youth, and the other one was about creative writing (something that the counselor pushed for me to write). And I got positive feedback on those two as well

The counselor told me to write about all the extra circulars I did during and since highschool, is it possible that it reflects negatively on my character that I did that?

I don’t think that the decisions will be out tomorrow. But am I going to keep checking this forum and portal every few minutes? YES

@hafnium

Hi! It’s me again!
Check out this: http://www.admission.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof18_mjr.htm#SEAS

it’s the stats of admitted transfer students of 2018. It seems like Mechanical engineering is a really competitive major, were only 8% of applicants get in (according to last year)
the GPA at the 25th percentile was 3.89
the 75th percentile was 4.0
If your essays are good then hopefully you should be fine, but with this major in particular it is hard to say if you will get in or not

this thread is gonna be in shambles tomorrow and i can’t wait lmaooo

to be fair, i am already in shambles
