Anyone here planning to go to med school?
@AeroDE I actually am planning to. I finished my two years of chemistry already and one semester of bio. i need a few more classes really. Might take them at a cc and transfer them over.
I’m going to med school! That’s the goal.
@ucla9631 Hey im applying as european studies so its basically similar to a language major plus like 5 other classes. When i spoke to a ucla admissions person from my CC she said the language requirement was the most important thing. I feel like since your major is specifically a language major not having the classes is a little tough. Did you take enough spanish to cover the “to be considered…” portion?
IM ALSO TRYNNA GO TO MED SCHOOLLLL im so worried for it lol i just insta forget about it when it comes up cause im worried i wont get in anywhere with my poop gpa
@AeroDE Look at the transfers by major for UCLA and check out my majors stats, its so sporadic im worried. I have a 3.4 but it ranges from 3.1 to 3.9 over the past few years hahaha

I’ll post my stuff here I suppose!
I actually applied as a philosophy major and do intend to keep that major or switch it to a minor, alongside neuroscience (very different, I know.) even though my only intended career path is surgery. I explained my intentions in choice of major very well in one of my personal statements.
GPA: 4.0
IGETC: done
ECs: extensive.
Prereqs: done to the best of my ability for what is offered at my CC in terms of philosophy.
Applied to: UCSD, UCLA, UCR, UCSB, UCSC, UCI, UCB
Waiting on admissions decisions from all of the above. I didn’t TAG to any.
@surefineitsok dope! Yea even in past year threads I don’t see too many Comp Lit majors. Since you intend to double major, did you apply as Comp Lit your other major?
@ucdochopeful2k19 Have you finished the 2 year chem, 1 year bio, and physics? Your GPA is impressive
@surefineitsok @ishitak @ucdochopeful2k19 @Princetonian9
Which school will you guys choose btw UCLA, UCI, UCD, UCR, UCSD, UCSB for pre-med?
@AeroDE I’ve finished general Chem, Bio, calculus (not required for med school but many recommend and some require it. Also if I go to UCSD it’ll be a major requirement.), and 1 semester of organic chem. I intend to take the other semester of organic chem over the summer before transfer. I have not taken physics yet and chose majors that’s don’t require it. I know that it’ll be a challenge for me and would like to take it closer to when I am preparing for the MCAT.
UCSD is honestly my top choice as a pre-med, no contest. UCLA is a close second.
To the people planning on going to med/dental/pharm school: what’s your major?
I applied as chemistry
As of this spring semester, I will have finished all of the chem, calculus, and physics requirements. But I intend to take all of the bio/anatomy/biochemistry requirements at wherever I’m gonna be transferring to because I’ve heard that most of the top med/dental/pharm schools like it taken at a four year university rather than at a community college.
Yes, the only REAL requirement for UCLA language majors is to have at least 1 year of your intended major under your belt. I’ve got that completed (Spanish 1 and 2). I’m currently taking Spanish 3. Hoping for the best @Princetonian9
has anyone applied for nordic studies?
@PokeBear that’s on a school by school basis. You can find that info on MSAR. I took anatomy and physio at CC and so glad I did. My anatomy got to work with cadavers each and every class which is getting to be uncommon. The MSAR membership is like $23 a year and I would highly recommend it. Gives you a look at all the MD programs and all their admissions requirements and statistics.
@StudentAgain Originally I was a Bio major but I decided I wanted to major in Public Health sadly UCLA is not one of the UC’s that offer that as a major. I was always kinda shaky about what I wanted to major in so I finished the IGETC pattern anyways and finished some med school requirements. I chose literature cause I knew I wanted to double major in some kind of science or health related major and humanities.
@AeroDE I’ll probably go to UCI since my parents want me to… I don’t really have much of a say since I’d probably get kicked out of my house lol. I haven’t had the best time trying to manage two STEM classes in one semester (I had a really bad semester one time so I didn’t want to jeopardize myself again) but I’ll probably try again after I transfer since UC’s or the ones I applied to are quarter systems. I still have quite a bit more requirements to go and also I’m probably going to take Biochem and Genetics (even tho it isn’t required for med school) for the MCAT since I don’t want to learn that stuff on my own haha
lol my top choice would either be UCLA or USC. Too scared to go to Berkeley for pre-med
@ucla9631 Have you spoken to any advisors about that requirement, i have questions unanswered D:
