UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Hey guys
My stats:
GPA: 3.96
Prerequisite: all done
IGETC: will be finished by end of spring.
Major: Electrical engineering
I also have a paid internship at Intel as SSD technical intern.
I actually got in last year but I declined so because of family issues. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in again?

Hello! I am currently a transfer student at a California community college. I am in my 2nd semester. So far, I have been doing great academically. I got all As my first semester with a 5 course load. I was also in a couple clubs and honors society. I am a Communications major and I’ve been trying my hardest to be able to transfer to the UCLA class of 2022.
The only issue with my situation is that before my 1st official semester at college, I took some dual enrollment courses while I was a junior/senior in high school. I got one C and a couple Bs. Would UCLA consider those grades while reviewing my application as a transfer student? Because technically the courses I took could count towards general ed./IGETC credit.
Additionally I got a couple Bs/Cs in some of the AP courses I took in high school but I got scores of 3s or above on the AP exam. UCLA has the right to give me credits because I passed those AP exams, and they do not consider the grade I ended up while I took the course for my transfer app.
If they don’t consider my AP course grades from high school, and with that same logic applied, would UCLA consider my dual enrollment grades? I just got low grades, and am worried they will affect my chances of getting in because the GPA for my major is very competitive. Those accepted have a 3.9-4.0 and I would have that if only I didn’t do so poorly during DE courses.

@vyominee answered in other post.

Hey! Please chance me!!

From a ccc
Major: psychology, alternate major philosophy
GPA: 3.77
Prereqs: done for both majors
Igetc: done
TAP: yes
EC: volunteering at a non profit residential treatment center for substance abuse and mental health, intern for national organization, highschool biology tutor, competitive swimmer
Personal statements: decent, good-ish
weaknesses: one W

@halpmehxd I think you have a very good chance, don’t worry about the W, one or 2 Ws barely have much effect, more than 2 might reflect negatively

Today is the day the Transfer Academic Update (TAU) link should be on the UC application but it isn’t ? Anyone here tried to access it yet?

@sugarcane1 I’ve been checking since midnight. It might be available later in the day.

@Ruberi thanks. Will just keep checking then?

@sugarcane1 Just an update to you and everyone, the date for the Transfer Academic Update has been changed to January 8th

@Ruberi thanks.

Hey everyone,
My situation is a little different, I am trying to transfer after one year at community college.
My major is psychology, and I completed all of the major pre-reqs this past fall. My units will add up to 60 by the end of this spring. In case you’re wondering how…
AP Credit: 13.3 units
Summer 2018: 7 units
Fall 2018: 23 units
Spring 2019: 18 units

GPA: 4.0
I also did an internship in psych. and was in psych. club; my IGETC will also be completed by the end of spring.

The only concerns I have is that I scored a 3 on all the AP exams that I took. While UCLA still takes credit for all of them, I am scared they might view the scores negatively. Besides that, I feel like there is a simple formula for transfer students: GPA and major prep. Since I secured both of those, I should be good, right? I hope this does not come off as bragging, I am just a little stressed about my AP scores and am curious for answers.
Hope everyone here gets in!

They will be fine with the 3s.

Just make sure you’re not using AP Psych for UCLA’s Psych 10.

Hi everybody. I am currently taking a winter session course (Spanish 1) but the class does not end until Feb. 2 which surpasses the TAU deadline. I just want to confirm that they only look at fall semester grades, correct? Will my grade for this class matter since I won’t be able to add the grade in to the TAU?

You can add it. Just go in there in Feb and add it.

Hey guys, don’t forget to start updating your fall grades!

@psychtransfer2018 Hi! Do you mind going over my stats and chancing me please?

@HarleyTheQuinn Yup, did mine early in the morning.

hey guys i have a question, once i submit the TAU now would I be able to change any on the classes I’m taking in spring if my schedule changes?

Yes. Go up there and change, then also email each UC through the portal and let them know. You don’t have to email if you change before Jan 31 on the TAU.

I just submitted my TAU, but I realized I put “Planned” for my Spring classes, even though my spring classes started 2 days ago and should technically be “In Progress.” Is this a big deal or does it not matter?
