UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Accepted for MCDB!
GPA: 3.8
Did not have 2nd semester of Organic Chemistry completed. I’m quite shocked, I must have written good essays.
Is there a FB page for UCLA transfers for Fall 2020? I’d like to make friends because I don’t know anyone there :frowning:

So after further research, to my surprise it looks like UCLA does not require an IGETC certification for the College of Letters and Sciences. Although they advise you to finish all courses that are required, “IGETC is only required for School of Nursing and School of Theater, Film and Television.”

You learn something new every day!

@anxiousgrl could you add me to the IG group chat? @tatixnaa

yo how’d you know it’s 7.4% this year :0

ACCEPTED

GPA: 4.0 (from CCC without a TAP program)
Major: English
finishing IGETC this semester (1 year transfer)

@subwooferlullaby

3500 accepted/ 26k applied = 7.4%

does it though…

7 hours later and I’m still in shock. Really didn’t think I’d get in. Congrats to everyone else who got in!!

Also I’m down to be in the ig gc but idk how to message people lol

still feels surreal. applied for housing, now I am scared of my application getting rescinded because I have an incomplete on a non-major course. Already emailed them though! We did it yall. What a day.

@econgal1234 i assume your major is Econ or biz Econ. Having two courses last term can be a deal-breaker depending on the selectivity of the major, number of requirements etc. Psych at UCLA is notorious for not admitting if there are two courses left last term. UCLA advisors flat-out tell applicants. You can scroll through the last couple of years and find it repeatedly stated. There are even some selective majors (blank at moment but I saw one last week) that actually says on assist all major prep must be completed by fall. I have no idea what the rules are for Econ.

Now there definitely could be another reason. UCLA used to be the one UC most forthcoming in telling you why you didn’t get in. I’m not sure if it’s still that way, but you should definitely try. If that is the reason, an appeal if you have strong final grades might work.

will we be able to get a physical acceptance package in the mail???

@minami i see! lol i was concerned. thanks!

I got accepted !! But even though I met the all requirements, I am worrying about my course work of one semester that I did not report cuz I got technical issue. I got all below C. I re-took them all and I got all As so my counselor said it is fine.

Am I going to get denied?

@jasojfi2o3 just so I can understand your situation better, are you saying that you didn’t report a term of classes you took due to not doing well in them?

Just in case anyone is just reading this thread, we’ve created a new thread for waitlist applicants to ucla:

http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/2184596-ucla-fall-20-transfer-waitlist-thread.html#latest

I’m just wondering if anybody can give some insight on the selection process behind computer science?

I got waitlisted with a 4.0 GPA and all major required coursework completed except for 2 in progress this semester, and I’ve completed all of the strongly recommended coursework listed on assist. I also have some research experience as I’ve been accepted to 2 honors research conferences, and had my research abstract(computer science related too) published. Additionally, I’m an activities coordinator for my college’s applied science and engineering club, an editor for my college’s literary journal, an honors program student on track to finish this semester, an active volunteer for my local senior center, and TAP certified. I’m by no means a great writer but I tried to get my PIQ’s read by as many professors as possible, and I don’t know if it turned out great relative to other applicants but I feel like it was the best I could get it with my aptitude for writing.

I read in this thread that 2 other computer science major transfers got in with 3.8-3.95 GPA’s so I’m wondering if someone can offer some insight on the selection process. What could I have done better or changed about my application? I really tried and worked so hard these two years. I’m destroyed that I potentially won’t get in to my dream school.

Where are people seeing this 3,500 acceptance number? I know they put the 26,000 in the acceptance letter, but nowhere have I seen an acceptance number.

@Warp776 can you add me if there’s still room my ig @tahamojo

Hopefully it will be okay

I would love to join the IG group chat! I just don’t know how to dm on here!!
