UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Major pre-reqs are #1, IGETC (if doing) is #2. In terms of completion, get as much major done by fall, save any remaining IGETC or gen ed for last term.

@hikashi I was able to finish all my major prep for biological sciences major. One year of physics is recommended, not required, and i chose to not do that as I didn’t wanna be stuck with taking bio, ochem, calc, and physics in one semester

is anyone really nervous

@hoshizora a lot of people on this thread said that they did not receive the scholarship email and a lot of my friends did not when I did, I think it was ranked by highest gpa in each major…? idk

@cloudiestcloud it’s nice to see a fellow first year community college student on here! i was really nervous about applying this year after the slew of sadness I had during first year applications last year :frowning:

@hikashi Hi, i am a one year transfer as well and my ucla admissions counselor told me that igetc is not that important for stem classes. they want you to focus on your major classes. she also told me that have some classes in progress for spring is completely fine especially since it is your first year. i wish you luck! (before you all say that we have less chances, I actually took community college classes in high school and I stayed a year to save money. i will have 94 transferable units by the end of spring)

hello! im a physcbio major! 3.745 gpa! a lot of ETC and I would say strong essays! what do u think

hello we hav the same major ahhhhh!!

@urlocalreject super nervous, I’m trying to not think about it…

I wonder if I will get in for my major. I’m scared as well.

Is anyone applying as a nursing major?

Hi I’m applying as a DMA/DESMA major, and I am super super super nervous!

.

Hi! I’m an English Major with a 4.0! Any other English majors lurking this forum? I’m excited to find out results!!

Can’t believe its April already! The month we’ve all been waiting for.

@urlocalreject hey!! i was in the same position you were last year too :frowning: UCLA has been my dream school since middle school and getting rejected as a freshman applicant was the worst. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully we hear back soon! also, i asked about the scholarship email and someone told me that they sent it out to everyone that applied this year? but that totally contradicts what you said about your friends not receiving it. only time will tell what it meant to receive that email (if it meant anything at all).

It does clearly state in the guidelines that the Alumni Association does not have any connections to the admissions office and does not indicate any change of being admitted…

@hoshizora do we need to have both linear algebra and diff eq for data theory at UCLA?

@davidls are you data theory too?! I was taking lin alg/diff eq this semester at my cc but i withdrew and instead enrolled for just linear algebra at uci spring quarter. The admissions guide lists data theory under math, which “recommends” math majors complete differential equations too. But for data theory, diff eq isn’t a major requirement or pre req at all so I assume its fine if admissions look at assist.

@hikashi Ya I am ! DM me I’d love to talk to someone who is also the same major as me (:

I took linear algebra last semester and was going to take diff eq this semester but saw data theory only required one or the other. I just hope I did enough…were u able to finish all the other major prep?
