Just to reclarify. A 4 on Calc BC means you would have to retake calc 2 at a cc if you want to apply to ucla, which sucks since schools like uci takes a 4 BC as calc 2 replacement.
@hikashi ya, based on this: https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/exam-credit/ap-credits/los-angeles/
@hikashi i talked to a UCLA rep a while ago and there didnt seem to be any problem. Should I ask and clarify to make sure my decision won’t be affected?
@hoshizora you should ask through your portal. They should have a question box.
@hikashi I may just contact the counselor that came to my school or try calling the engineering department to see what they say
hi! i’m a fall 2020 applicant hoping to major in english. if anyone is familiar with UCLA’s english department, english admit rate, stats, etc. please let me know. i’m trying to learn as much as i can about each school i applied to before i have to make any decisions
@frogluvr You can look at this website to see acceptance rates and GPAs by major for each UC campus: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
It looks like the 25th to 75th percentile GPA for admitted English majors to UCLA last year was 3.69-3.95 and the acceptance rate for the major was 37%.
Good luck everyone!
@hoshizora I contacted UCLA and they said go based off of what your community college accepts. Most CCC accept a 4 or 5, not lower. Therefore that’s why that kid last year @hikashi was talking about might not have gotten their credits accepted at UCLA.
@uclashmeed oh so that’s why the rep I met with didn’t say anything concerning… Thank you that is a huge relief
This actually makes sense now that I think about it. My CCC has close ties with UCLA and if they didn’t accept a 4 any of the counselors should’ve been aware of it. Again thanks for the clarity!
@hoshizora what is your major? does it require calc 2?
TSP is the Transfer Summer Program through AAP at UCLA where certain students dorm and take 3 classes in a very short amount of time in order to get used to the quarter system and hit the ground running when the Fall begins. I got an email back from the Vice- Provost of AAP today and he said it will not be cancelled but there is a possibility it will be moved to remote instruction depending on what Gene Block and the CDC say.
@hikashi I’m an Electrical Engineering major. It definitely requires Calc 2
My GPA is above the admitted range for my major last year but I’m still scared for engineering admissions
@cloudiestcloud ah!! i wish you best of luck too! ucla has been my dream school forever and I am just hoping to be able to go here yeah! last year was so rough opening the one letter from the one school that I actually wanted to go to
@zekogmo me too, im super nervous for engineering majors.
i am also extremely nervous guys!! i literally can’t believe we are going to find out this month. it’s all I can think about, especially because I am stuck at home with nothing else to do LOL hope you are all doing well!!
Hahaha, I feel the exact same way! Three more grueling weeks!!
