UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

y’all i’m hella nervous

I’m very nervous too! I’m hoping decisions are released tomorrow. Good luck to everyone, I honestly hope we all get in!

Anyone else couldn’t sleep because of nerves?? lol

literally same!! i keep waking up randomly throughout the night LOL I’m still hoping that they post decisions tomorrow :frowning: I am just gonna keep checking their twitter/instagram today for some type of verification lmao

Any CS major? I got rejected from UCB and UMich, my only hope is UCLA. I can’t sleep for two days straight.

Any history majors (or any other majors!!!) wanna follow each other on insta??? I know we’re not allowed to drop our @'s but we can all comment on the ucla transfer ig or something to find each other.

Is anyone majoring in biochem? I’m so anxious for decisions!

@ndrsn0208 fellow cs major here! im a one year transfer with a 4.0 and super nervous about LA. Got waitlisted by Davis and rejected by UCB, but got into UCI and UCSC (regents) which was relieving.

I’m a CS major. The acceptance rates are not in our favor. I got UCB though so I have something at least

Does anyone know if UCLA cares about classes that are not offered at our CC, I am missing one cause my CC does not offer it, will this substantially limit my application (since I know UCLA places a huge emphasis on completing pre-reqs).

So it looks like UCLA doesn’t announce when decisions will be live until they are live lol. Looks like we’ll be waiting till 5pm tomorrow to hear anything!

@Bubonica

I am currently taking Calc 2 and Stats right now which I’m on track to get A’s in, not that it really matters though.

@hellohi45

Yes it does matter actually! If you’re completing major prereqs in the spring (right now), especially for a competitive major, it will have some effect on your decision. My friend was waitlisted from Business economics because he was completing managerial accouting in the spring. He called the admissions office and they told him, had he completed all major prereqs in the fall, he would’ve been accepted. It makes sense tho because they want to see solid letter grades for those prereqs. In the spring, you just have to earn a C- or better (they don’t count in your evaluation).

@sandra543 Thank you that makes me feel better. It honestly confuses me how I didn’t get UCI but maybe me not finishing some major prep courses before last fall put me at a big disadvantage. I also just realized I applied to Bus Econ with Econ as my alternate major at UCLA. Probably screwed but I’ll try to remain hopeful.

@Bubonica
Oh yes I definitely agree that it matters to have it done by the fall term prior to transfer. I meant not that it matters now because I was already rejected :confounded:

For UCLA, they dont ask for Statistics so I would have finished all except one class (Calc 2) which I’m taking right now for my major. Do you think this will screw me over just as much as the other schools?

@hellohi145 OHHH sorry I miss understood ?

@hellohi145 it all really depends person to person , but if you had strong grades in all your other prereqs then you still have a good shot! I am also taking calc 2 and stats this semester and applying for bus Econ :))

@hellohi145

Are you a TAP participant? If you are they will review your application for the economics major, which in that case you’ll probably get in because of your GPA.

Since you only have one prerequisite left (calc 2), then I would hope it wouldn’t affect you too much. If you end up being waitlisted, and you get an A in Calc 2, then that could certainly be a positive once you update them in your waitlist opt-in form.

Political Science major here. I have a 3.891GPA, because of 1 B which was a 5 unit stats course. If I’ve completed 4/5 major prep courses, the last being in progress right now, am I still competitive?

I finished the math/stats requirement in the fall which they were really hard on completing (they said people who finished stats in Spring were not going to meet the requirements) and I’m just wondering if it helps finishing it ahead.

I’ve been accepted by CSLUB, SFSU, UCD, UCI. Rejected by UCB. Waiting on UCLA & UCSD. I had a lot of E.Cs.

The lady who’s doing a takeover on the UCLATransfers instagram was asked when decisions are coming, and in short she said: the UCLATransfers page is unaffiliated with Undergrad Admission and she doesn’t know.
