UCLA Fall 2021 Transfers

25th percentile for my major is 3.85, 75th is 3.98, and I’m at 3.88. Am I screwed? It’s a 37% admit rate and am taking my last prep class in spring. I also did all of the recommended courses. ECs are okay, and essays are good, I would say.

that’s frustrating, I got a 3 in lang as well and was worried it wouldn’t transfer (especially since it made it look like I am short on units since I didn’t take english due to the ap credit, but my counselor tried insisting that they’ll check). at this point u did everything u could do and tried ur best so u can’t be upset with urself

that’s a tight percentile, so I feel like you must still be in the running since the 75th can’t even really get pushed any higher

Yeah that was my thought too. When the percentiles are that high, if you’re in the middle 50 at least, you’re doing well. I think what’s confusing me is the 37% admit rate. That’s really high for those percentiles.

yeah that rejection hurt the most tbh. good luck on UCLA!

i hope the 50th is even counted though, what if everyone has 4.0s and ours don’t even get looked attttttt

That’s what makes it scary. I looked at previous years and in some of those the 75th percentile actually did reach 4.0

some ppl say they look more at major gpa which i actually hope not cuz mine has only 2 recs and 1 of them was my 1 other B ughhh. i wish they’d actually look at the courses u get B’s in cuz one was so long ago and one was in an honors class at my cc

Yeah sadly I lost my 4.0 in my major with an A- in winter 2021

mine doesn’t have pluses or minuses, dunno if that would’ve helped or hurt LOL

you too, my friend

Yeah I don’t know. I’m the one that tends to get A-'s, but I did get one B+ sadly.

Barring my D and F from my first semester (which was in summer) that I retook and got A’s in, I’ve only gotten 1 C that following first Fall semester for Philosophy (not my major) and one B last semester for one of the hardest English courses I’ve done so far. I think not having ± system helps for sure.

the pluses come in handy when ur the one with the plus but the minuses would make it so nerve wracking LOL without em nobody knowsss

It’s like a blessing and a curse but you have a coin flip chance honestly.

definitely, seems it could work for you or against you

Yep. I’m also a 1-year transfer so that makes it even more complex. My AP scores are pretty high so MAYBE that could help me. You think that will help or hurt?

I guess technically there’s less info to go off of (not sure if they ask for your HS transcript in this scenario), but I’d say it’s more neutral than anything.

don’t think it’ll necessarily help or hurt

Okay I should probably stop worrying so much at this point. I’m cautiously optimistic about this, and I’ll find out on Wednesday!
