same here. my major has ~50-55% acceptance rate so i was pretty confident i’d get in. waitlist isn’t horrible though considering how competitive the applicant pool really was. i had no idea they were accepting that few students… seems lowkey unfair but i won’t complain about the waitlist i’ll just write my ass off for that essay

what essay?

same

did u complete all prerequisites

UC → UC transfer btw (for anyone in the future who will see this, it is possible!)

what was your gpa?

there’s an optional waitlist essay you can submit along with your unofficial transcript. basically anything you want the school to know about you that wasn’t already in your application.

Accepted!

i dont have any spring grades bc i graduated in the fall

last year the letter said they received 26,000 transfer applicants and this year it jumped to 28,000 applicants

that’s what i was thinking too, i’m just assuming students will treat it like one. cal’s waitlist opt-in looked a lot more straightforward than this one but i think it’s basically just like a “free write” thing. if anything it can only help you, especially if you make it very clear that if you’re admitted from the waitlist you’re going to commit.

My girlfriend got in!

Major: Cog Sci
GPA: 4.0

Berkeley has also added 2,000 applicants, so this year’s transfer is more competitive.
