Hi, for you and those that got this email, had you already submitted the transfer academic update? Thanks!
I already submitted the transfer academic update in the 2nd week of January and I got the alumni scholarship email.
Yeah i submitted it too and I believe the deadline to submit was the end of January.
I submitted mine 3 days before I got the e-mail.
Intended Major : Political Science
State: In-State (California)
] School Type: CC
[] GPA: 4.0
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: Low Income
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): One-year transfer, Honor Student Dean List (but I did not mention this as an extra curricular, I assumed all As would’ve shown it anyways)
Extracurriculars: Precinct Captain at ACLU, Exec VP at my Student Gov, work a lot of hours at a job. I mentioned some of my high school stats but not all of it, although wishing I did though because I did a ton in HS.
[ *] Job/Work Experience: 25 -30 hrs a week at work
[ *] Strengths: I feel like my ECs, especially given that I have only been there for one year. Additionally, my PIQs were pretty good but I wrote them later (they sound more authentic in my opinion than usual). I have all the prereqs done and my GPA.EC’s, I drafted my PIQ’s early and had them read over by some UCB transfer students and my Scholarship Coordinator
[ *] Weaknesses: Not TAP certified (my school didn’t have it), not going into detail about my high school stats, wrote my PIQs a lil late?
Applying to what schools? UCI (tag), UCLA, and UCSD
Submitted my TAU, did get the Alumni Scholarship letter but not the Regents?
Good luck! Also someone please help me get some of the stress of my shoulders haha.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up too much, but you seem like a competitive applicant! I only say that because they got a lot of applications this year.
Two questions:
- Has anybody received a second Alumni Scholarship e-mail?
- Have any transfer applicants been invited to apply for the Regents Scholarship?
I received the second alumni scholarship email today. I heard freshman regents invites went out already but I haven’t heard of any transfers receiving it for UCLA or Berkeley. I think we have to wait until April for official decisions since they don’t do early acceptances for transfer students.
I can’t stand these e-mails, honestly. I want to focus on my school work, not whether or not one e-mail from UCLA means something.
Hey everyone !! Hope everyone is emotionally pulling through and doing well because I know how stressful it can be waiting for admission decisions . Here are my stats
Intended Major: Geography
State: California (in-state)
School Type: CSU
GPA: 3.5
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: Lower income
EC’s: Piano player, music director at my church.
Job/Work Experience: cashier at local restaurant (2years), Caregiver for the elderly(2years),
Strengths: My essays in the application process are pretty solid. I literally perfected them and I’m a pretty good writer:D, International Baccalaureate, IB credits.
Awards: Dean’s list, Seal of Biliteracy
Weaknesses: My GPA isn’t that competitive but I explained why it is the way it is due to personal circumstances which I thoroughly explained in my essays.
I know CSU applicants aren’t at the top of the list in terms of admission but Hopefully they accept me because of the admission rate for my major and other things.
Intended Major : American Literature / English
State (if domestic applicant): In-State (California)
School Type: CCC
GPA: 3.54
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: Low Income
Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): First Gen, URM, Non-traditional
Does UCLA send Portal Information? I received them from all the others UCs I applied to (UCB, UCSB, UCI, UCR) but not from UCLA.
You just have to go to the portal and log in, I believe.
thanks so much - you were right
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has been accepted to UCLA as an economics major while missing their calc 2 requirement. I currently am attending a California community college, I finished all my IGETC requirements, and econ requirements. I don’t think I am getting off this waitlist for calc 2. Would I be able to take calc 2 over the summer, or at UCLA if I do get accepted?
Does anyone know if UCLA Tap actually helps? I just got Tap certified but I am unsure if this is something that will actually help me. For reference, I have a 3.6, applying as an anthropology major b.s. lmk!
I don’t have a source but I have heard that TAP significantly helps applicants. I have seen on reddit (don’t know how reliable lmao) that TAP certification can lead you to having 85% chance for acceptance. Who knows if that is actually true but overall TAP will definitely help!
thank you! yeah on my colleges website it says that 70%-98% of students get accepted (this is based on students from my cc not in general. I was just curious bc last year I read people getting rejected with 3.8 and ucla tap. and most people that got rejected with tap appealed but that’s a long shot.
I think it also comes down to how selective some majors are at UCLA. Since the school itself is so selective, TAP can only boost your application but not guarantee an admission. I would not be surprised about people who are TAP certified getting rejected because of how competitive UCLA admissions are. I also believe admissions is a pretty random and unknown process, so we can only hope for the best. You have a solid chance tho so good luck!
Hey guys!! UCLA transfer student here from fall 2020. Reading all your stats and they’re all incredibly competitive! Just wanted to wish you all luck on your admissions and here are my stats if anyone’s interested:

Volunteering: COPE health scholar, recycling every week with student government, and volunteered at homeless shelters.
