UCLA Fall 2021 Transfers

Hi
Did anybody get news email from UCLA today?
It says

HERE, IT’S EASY TO

FEEL RIGHT AT HOME

Whether you want to join a business club or form a start-up, play sports or cheer on your favorite team, attend a world-class performance or create your own art, Bruins have endless options at their fingertips. And with over 1,000 student groups and organizations to choose from, it’s easy to find your niche at UCLA.

Yeah it was a promo e-mail. Means nothing, and I’m not willing to analyze if the exact time you got it means anything either.

Hm, that is interesting because my CCC doesn’t offer TAP, will that affect me in any way or is it subjective to the student and their respective CCC?

TAP is only meant to help applicants, it won’t hurt you if your college doesn’t offer it. So yah, it should be subjective to students and their respective CCC. I’m not TAP certified either so I hope we get in.

Yess! We got this, also thanks a bunch, had to submit some additional info to uc today which was weird and reminded me to read this thread.

Do they look at TAU GPA or before TAU?

They look at your GPA after TAU.

Hello Everyone here are my stats

Intended major: Psychology (BA for UCLA) and Psychology(BS for UCSD, UCSB,UCR)
TAG: UCR (my safe school)
I am a CC student
Female
Hooks/Extracurriculars

  • First gen college student
  • CCCP scholar (program at UCLA that connects CC students with resources to succeed at any UC), through CCCP I was able to take a course at UCLA summer 2020 so I have a 4.0 in the UC system.
  • Presented at the HTCC annual research conference at UC Irvine
    *Part of the Honors Program
*Completed 7th-10th grade in Mexico due to family circumstances

I didn’t really get my PIQ’s reviewed by many and made a last minute decision on which question to choose
HOWEVER …my GPA is a 3.17… I ruined it by getting C’s in Calculus and chemistry classes …I know my chances are supeeer low :frowning: but you never know lol

Hi,

I was really wondering if UCLA Art going to send an invitation to the art house to prospective applicants this year. Due to covid-19, I don’t know if they wanna invite or no.

Anybody know?
And also,
Anybody know approximately when they sent those letters previous years? Ex.mid March

Thank you lol. I’ve seen this before and it’s very sad. I messed up my gpa by taking max units almost every semester and winter because I was trying to cram everything into two years but when I realized I was doing more harm than good my gpa was at 3.0 and getting that thing back up would require me to stay in CC another like 2 years and all A’s and it would just be at like a 3.5. I have mostly A’s and a few B’s in everything else and I completed two AA degrees already so there is no point in staying. I was wondering if they would look at the fact that I have a 4.0 in the UC system? Or do they just look at CC gpa?

They look at transferable GPA. wdym 4.0 in the UC system?? certain courses dont transfer over like remedial math so those are not included in your transferable GPA.

I took a course at UCLA over the summer (like an actual class along with other UCLA students) and so I have a Transcript at UCLA which has a 4.0 But I am a CC student so I am not sure if that can be a factor in my favor, given that in a sense they will see I am capable of doing good at their school…

Stats:

English major
CCC student
4.0 GPA
66 units

  • Founding member of English majors club
  • Writing center tutor for two years
  • Freelance tutor for one year
  • Won a scholarship essay competition
  • Spoke at a regional writing conference
  • Former officer (two different positions) in GSA and Future Teachers society
  • ESL tutor for one year
  • Teaching Assistant in English for one year
  • Twice-published author and poet
  • Former editor-in-chief of annual college magazine
  • Video editor (not really related to anything, but I threw it into one of my PIQs to show I loved working with stories)
  • Teaching myself Latin and Scottish Gaelic
  • I’ve written several novels
  • SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) member

I got in last year as a transfer and accepted, but I ultimately decided not to attend because of COVID and the associated challenges posed by the pandemic. I realize there’s been a huge jump in applications, English is slightly impacted, and UCLA has more applicants than any other school in the country. So, I’m hoping I stand a fair chance at being admitted again!

How do you know English is impacted?

Hi, I am waiting for admissions decisions for fall 2021. I am taking some elective courses this semester but I’m thinking of dropping a course with a W. Will this affect my admissions decisions?

I have a little brochure I got at a transfer day at my school (granted, this was about two or three years ago), where it listed out all the impacted majors and alternative degrees people could pursue, instead. English was on the list, and the alternative listed was Classical Civilizations.

Things may have changed (I hope they have), but that’s just what I read. I wouldn’t get too worried about it; all we can do is apply and hope for the best.
