UCLA Financial Aid Summary

after i saw my financial aid summary i told my friends that i got into UCLA!!!

torrance- you are too excited, lol. but good for you! I saw you applied last year, you deserve to get in. :)

WOM- yah last year i applied as international student/pre-req missing that's why i was rejected.. This year i am permenent resident(cali resident) and pre-req done so i think i have a better chance this year

Torrance, how many pre-reqs were you missing? Did you also apply for financial aid last year?

WOT, nothing change.....I am so jealous of Torrancecali right now.....

guin- one missing and i was an international student so i could not apply for FAFSA

Hongda- don't worry you will get into UCB Haas anyways!

so you r saying I will get rejected from UCLA anyway. My heart is broken

I don't think so Hongda. UC's give preference to California residents and especially CCC students. Plus, you stated you would be finishing this term, not that you weren't going to finish like in torrance's case.. but I'm glad everything is going well this time around torrance! your effort has payed off well. :)

Torrance- I don't know what is my first choice, right now lol....I haven't heard from SD yet, and I'm praying for LA.
SD, I would love to go there but they don't have transfer housing which sucks
LA, well what can you say it's amazing there...so I think either one i would love to go to....I'm leaning a little towards LA, but I'm not getting too caught up in it because I'm afraid of getting rejected

Torrancecali - how did you change from international student to permanent resident?

sistahgurl-what is your stats?

UCBorUCLA- oh applied greencard 5-6years ago and i finally got my greencard last year in may.

congrats Torrancecali. 5 more years you will be an American citizen.

Hongda- actually i got it last year May so more like 4years! you are permenent resident?

yeah. I have to wait 3 more years...lol

Torrance-
gpa: 3.3
college: UCSB
major: psychology
EC's: Work at the psychology department as a research assistant for about a year now, in the social relations lab. ( I run experiments, set up equipment, monitor participants heart rate, impedence, EEG, etc
-Volunteered at pre-schools during the summers (thinking of either being a clinical psychologist or social psychologist)
Pre-reqs: (Requirement was to have done: Intro to psych, physical anthropology, chemistry, philosophy, physics, biology, and stats) I have done all but 1 quarter of physics and biology. But, I have taken 4 Upper division classes already for psychology at UCSB.
Essay: I worked really hard on it...I think it was great. I pretty much included everything I told you above and more...also told them why I have a 3.3. It's because of a disability I have that hindered me last year from getting higher grades, but I got surgery done over the summer and this year and my grades have been a lot better.

sistahgurl-3.3 is kind of low for UCLA.. also you don't have priority since you are a UC transfer... but you do have a good chance for SD good luck! How come you don't like SB?

Thanks Torrance, yea I know it's low...I have known some people to get into LA with a 3.3-3.4, but there majors weren't really impacted.
SB isn't for me because well...it is a party school. SB is right next to IV. And, IV is really trashy.... The apartments look really broken down, some food places are good, but most are just really bad. Plus, there really isn't anything to do, but party...and watching people fall over drunk is not for me at all...lol I like to have fun, but that isn't fun for me. I just feel like I'm stuck in my room most of the time. That's why I want to transfer.

i heard SD is socially dead and LA has lots of stuff to do! hopefully u get in to LA

lol...yea I've heard that too...actually a couple of my friends go to SD and they say they love it, but I don't know I guess it depends on the person.
Yea, I heard LA is amazing and that it has a great mixture of things to do, besides just studying. Thanks Torrance! I hope you get in too, but I think you will since you can see the finaid stuff on URSA. My boyfriend can see his finaid stuff too on URSA, he applied to both SD and LA too, as a computer science major, he had a 3.47 when he applied all pre-reqs done.

can you see financial aid summary?
