UCLA Financial Award

Has anyone else not yet received their provisional award letter?

To find out about it, go to the tabs next to your admission letter. Click on next steps for admit. Then click admitted student checklist (make sure you don’t hit decline offer. lol) choose Transfer student.
If you haven’t made your ucla ID, make one. then you should be able to proceed to view you financial aid.

Surprisingly for me I end up paying less with LA than SB or SD. With Davis i pay 3x less than almost all of the other 3.

@loyshi Yeah I’ve gone through that. It says that my award is unavailable at this time… I filled out my Fafsa and everything, but since my parents havent filed their return yet I completed it as an estimate, maybe that has something to do with it?

@Freetofly112‌
They still haven’t filled yet? It was supposed to be the 15th…,

I received it… it was the worst aid letter compared to all the UCs I applied to. I heard of people sending schools an award letter from a different college and asking them to match it… do you guys think UCLA will do that for me? >_<

@Loyshi Yeah I have no clue whats going on, but my parents told me they got an extension until September or something, they just have to pay some penalty.
@‌Atticlights I have no idea hahah but my gut instinct says probably not…

Matching financial aid packages? That’d be lovely, but I doubt it. There’s a reason it’s different for each school.

Yeah I know they probably won’t but I emailed them anyways. Doesn’t hurt to try! I’ve worked in fin aid at my community college and I learned if you want these people to pay attention to you, you kind of have to make a fuss so I might even go to their office in person.

Hope you guys get lots of aid! To those of you stuck in the middle class no-man’s land… I feel your pain :frowning:

I’m afraid of angering my admission counselor because of my late schedule change in March and the one I’m about to do. I wouldn’t put it past a spiteful counselor to revoke your admission for being a nuisance. Even if you did complain, would your voice be heard amongst the thousands of people clamoring for a second chance via the appeal form?

ooooo spooky…

@Freetofly112 contact them i always had trouble gettimg financial aid in high school (went to private) because my parents didnt file till October, they also get extensions. Call ucla and ask what you can do maybe you can use last years? Hope it works out for you.

@sonic23 Good idea. I’ll have to wait until Monday, but I’ll give them a ring.

I got aid, it is better than ucsd’d aid. 23,500 in scholarhips and 7,800 in loans, and 2,000 in work study

what the hell? So you only have to 9800 in total? I have to almost double that! What grants did you get?

I got scholarship recognition award (5,000), pell grant (5000), cal grant a (12,000), and uc grant (2,000) - estimates

my efc is about 1,000 though

@ccnube Ah mine is 8,500. I only have Scholarship Recognition and Uship, but my Scholarship Recognition is 14,000 total. Unfortunately, I am out of the income bracket for cal and pell :(, Are you committing to UCLA? I remember you getting UCI Regents. If you don’t mind, can you say how much the regents scholarship offered?

uci regents is 2,500 a year of non-FA money. I am waiting to see if ucla accepts me for regents too, but I doubt it. I haven’t gotten my FA for irvine yet though. btw, ucla regents is 2000 a year…

@onehandedred‌

@ccnube they don’t put the full amount you’d be offered in the award letter? That’s disappointing. I’m gonna bring up lindyk8 again cause she said her daughter got 14,000 from UCM Regents, which probably isn’t the based amount… But UCM is super rich so that’s not unbelievable either. Or do you mean you haven’t received the award letter at all yet?

i havent recieved an award letter…I am so confused…14,000??? where the heck did that come from???
