Welcome to UCLA from the editors of a new campus publication, the First Year Book. We're writing to tell that it's never too early to make your mark at UCLA. Submit your creative work and your picture and profile to us, and we'll print it in the First Year Book for the Class of 2009.

The whole point of the First Year Book is to introduce first years (AKA freshmen) to each other and the campus. It's a combination literary journal and yearbook.

Go to Bruinwalk.com to get started. What is Bruinwalk.com? Bruinwalk.com is the student-run, student-created website you'll most definitely use as a UCLA student. It's a place to pick up your UCLA email, find out which professors suck or rock, store files online, build blogs and websites for your clubs and groups, sell and buy books cheaper than in the bookstore, and a bunch of other stuff.

You'll need to get your Bruin Online account set up first, if you haven't already, to use Bruinwalk.com. Go to http://www.bol.ucla.edu/services/accounts/ and after you're set up with UCLA email, go to Bruinwalk.com and register as a member of the class of 2009.

Tell us about yourself and upload a picture. And then submit something if you want. Send us whatever you have--poetry, short stories, essays, art, photography, snap shots (be sure to provide captions), indescribable screeds and other bursts of creative expression, whatever. Send your work to:

First Year Book
308 Westwood Plaza
118 Kerckhoff Hall
Los Angeles, CA 90024.

We're going to publish your profile, pictures, submissions, and all the information that will help us characterize the Class of 2009.

You'll have a chance to buy your First Year Book or have your parents buy one for you later this summer (we'll mail them an offer). But you don't have to buy anything to be in it. It's free to use Bruinwalk.com and to submit to the First Year Book.

When you're famous and they want to see what you were about way back in 2005, they'll find you and the rest of the Class of 2009 in the First Year Book.

Thanks!
The editors
