I'm really confused about this....since i took three quarters of french at a cc...do i still have to take the placement test? also, placement tests are only given during first-year orientation...wth? what if we live far away? i dont know what to do?! i dont want to plan another trip to L.A. solely for a two hour test...

no, i dont think so! unless maybe you are going to take french at ucla??

i thought it was for people who still hadn’t met that language requirement but could pass the placement test to waive that for them!

i actually do plan on taking french at ucla…i’m an english major so i need five quarters of a foreign language but i’ve only taken three at a cc.
i was just wondering if i need to take a placement to get into french 4? or could i get into french 3 without taking the placement? i’m not sure how it all works.

Students who are required to complete the Foreign Language Requirement (see above) may do so in one of three ways:

Credit for a foreign language course at UCLA for quarter level 3 or above or an equivalent course at another institution.

A score of 3 or higher on an Advanced Placement (AP) foreign language test in French, German, or Spanish, or a score of 4 or higher on the Latin test.

A UCLA Foreign Language Placement exam score indicating foreign language competency through quarter level 3 or higher.

does the classes you took fulfill the first option? then you wouldn’t have to take it.

xtramdo- You will be able to register for the next level french course once your transcripts post to your file. If you finished french 3 at community college the next course you can register for at UC is French 4 without taking any placement exams or anything.

If you wanted to take french 5 for example, or french 6, then you need to take the exam
