I’m a current UCLA student majoring in Biology (planning on switching to Psychobiology) who will be entering the fall quarter as sophomore. I know during this time last year I had a lot of general and specific questions and concerns about going to college/UCLA, so I am here to hopefully clear them up for you guys. I will try to answer as clearly and as detailed as possible, so ask away!
Hey, what Gen Ed classes would you recommend? I am part of the College of Arts and Sciences. I am looking for any “interesting” or academically invigorating classes that won’t kill me time and effortwise. I am less inclined to take classes in politics, rock or pop music stuff, and chemistry (though I don’t hate to take them). However, any classes that you find at least modestly interesting are welcome. What are the relatively easy classes? What classes would you recommend? (please mention my username, @Grativity, in your reply). thanks!
I have not taken the LS30 series. Instead, I took the Math 3 series, which is the other math series for LS majors. I think this LS series was newly implemented last year, so I was not informed about it until I was already on the second class in the series.
I would take it if I knew about it though. I haven’t heard much about its difficulty level, but hey, it’s one less class to worry about as opposed to the 3 classes you need to take for the math 3 series and as a LS major who has to take so many classes already, that’s a good deal.
Anyway, I have only two GEs so far and they were Ethnomusicology 25 with Ruskin and Asian American Studies 10 with deGuzman. Ethnomusicology was boring and unnecessarily difficult with the professor I took, don’t take it lol. As for Asian American Studies, it was okay. So yeah, I think those two classes are under your “less-inclined-to-take” category. From what I have gathered, Arts & Architecture 10 is a fun and chill class. This is a general consensus from all my friends who have taken it, so look into that. In the end, your professor really makes or breaks the class so be sure to check out bruinwalk.com before enrolling to any class.
