UCLA Full ride scholorship?!?!??! PLZ CLICK!! :'(

okk.. here goes do you think I can make it in the scohol with a scholorship??
I have a 3.5 GPA
I have over 200 hours of volanteering at the hospital..
im in some groups..
im a black belt and still going
im in Varsity Track
I speak 4 differ langs.. one in which is english haha
Im persian ( idk some ppl say ethnic bg help hah)
idk yet about my SAT or ACT.. but what do you think I need?
And im taking AP classes..

And my family makes 40,000 a year…so it would be AWSOME if I get a scholorship!!

it would be really tough since UCLA is so competitive

Seriously, be honest in your posts. You say your a fresh, then a senior, then a junior with no ACT but you have your ACT score listed on other threads.

Stop ■■■■■■■■. If those are your stats, you are not getting into UCLA OOS, let alone with any kind of scholarship.

The UCs are barred by law from considering ethnicity in admissions, so that will not help. Scholarships for being Persian would more likely come from Persian clubs, churches or organizations.

The UC OOS minimum GPA to be considered for *admission *is 3.4 for Sophomore + Junior year, academic classes only, extra point for up to 4 AP/IB classes only (OOS does NOT get an extra point for non-AP/IB honors). Students who meet that minimum are considered for, but not necessarily granted, admission. The UCLA Regent’s scholarship (which is not a full-ride) is typically awarded to only the very top % of their over 50,000 applicants. Those top applicants usually have GPAs in the 4.4 range and the highest test scores.

You would be eligible for the same federal grants and loans at UCLA as at other universities, but their *university grants *tend to be reserved for in-state students. The OOS cost of attendance is approximately $47,000/year.

Have you looked into your in-state public university? That would probably be a better choice for pursuing scholarships.

OK…this is part of another post from the OP on another thread.

Dear OP…which is it? Are you a high school rising junior or are you transfering from OSU to Cornell.

On another thread you want to know if you can raise your GPA to 3.6 before your graduate high school.

Please…come clean or don’t waste folks’ time.

The above post tells it all for the UC’s (just in case this is really your brother using your screenname). OOS students do not typically get full rides from the UCs which reserve their aid for their instate students first. AND the UC system is reeling from the budget issues in the state of CA (and nationally). I would suggest you NOT look at the UCs for a full ride as an OOS student undergrad.

hey im sorry the hs… stuff were just ideas…
and I was tyring to get an idea for the other things… I actually really wanted to know the answer to all those things… i promise I wasnt wasting anyones time… I just didnt know much about those things so I asked… and also my sister asked some questions about MEd school…
but other then that the HS stuff are mine… Ive used this site alot… so my threads have changed A LOT since then… lol sorry that I made you think that…
thats why I hever say my ACT or SAT scores b/c i havnt taken them yet… im just trying to see what would happen if… bla bla bla… haha am I making any sense here?

Unless you are a recruited athlete, UCLA does not give out full ride scholarships, and with a 3.5, your chance of admission is low. The only merit scholarships the UCs give out are called Regent’s, which at UCLA is only a couple of grand per year. To be competitive, you would need a 4.2 + 2200+…

I got the Regents last year. They actually have a “fixed” amount they give and then they cover need. So I ended up w a full ride.

It’s extremely competitive though and as UCLA, like the rest of the UCs, are mostly numbers based, you would have to fit the academic criteria for Regents. The average GPA of the incoming freshman is 4.2.

T.E. please clarify which info is YOURS so that folks can answer your questions…and truthfully…next time you are posting questions for your “sister”…please indicate this.

From your other posts, it seems that Ohio is your home state. Is that correct? There are a bunch of very fine public universities in Ohio where your chance of acceptance is higher than for UCLA and the costs more moderate. In addition, there are a TON of smaller LAC’s in Ohio, some which give merit aid to TOP applicants. Right now, you are not a top applicant (well…actually that’s hard to say since your past posts have your current GPA ranging from 3.2 to 3.7). It sounds like you would like to go to college in a different location than where you live, and that is something I think is a good idea…IF the family can support it. Going to school far from home is expensive in many cases. So if finances are entering into the picture, you need to consider those schools closer to home.

Also, you need to immediately have a discussion with your parents about college finances. You have to learn what they are willing to contribute to your college costs each year. There is no “tuition/room/board” fairy that will automatically pick up the costs…so this could help guide your college selection list.
