UCLA GE Requirements

Okay so I'm really confused .. On the website it says that ten courses are required .. Does that mean we just take whatever ten GE courses we want? And what are "Foundations of Knowledge"? If anyone can clear up the whole GE deal for me .. that'd be great ..

You must take 10 classes toward GE’s (you can test out).

Look at the thing on the registrar’s website. There are three categories with some subcategories that you must fulfill.

All in all though it totals to 10 classes

OH. I think I kinda get it … I think … Thanks man.

Wait, so does that mean that I don’t HAVE to take a class like English? I get to choose my classes?

You have to take Literary/Cultural Analysis and you have to take Philosophy/Linguistic Analysis. Now the classes you take in those areas may not be from the English department (or Philosophy or Linguistics), but you do have to take a related subject matter. And it has to be a class that is listed. Not all classes offered by the Philosophy Department will get you Philosophical Analysis GE credit.

And obviously there are GE requirements in other subject areas, though a North Campus major can get through without taking “real” South Campus classes.

Okay so as long as I take something under that category I’m good …?
Hm, I guess that’s simple enough. Alright thanks guys

Assuming you will be entering CLAS

Yeah I saw that and I didn’t get it at first but I think I do now. Thankss.

don’t worry about all this, they’ll tell you everything at orientation
