polymathguy and astua117: I added you both on Facebook! So don’t be alarmed at a request from a random girl. I can make the group once you accept my requests. (I tried making one, but they don’t let you unless you have at least another member)

there seems to be nothing there its just the same as usual… must mean i got rejected.

Well, don’t make hasty conclusions. The coordinator said that unless you receive a rejection email, you’re still being considered! Also, they could be just behind on their deadlines, because they did say they got many applications. Good luck!

Kevin don’t be discouraged. I thought I got rejected too since I didn’t receive an email yesterday when Jess and polymath guy received their acceptance letter. It seems my gmail account did not receive my acceptance email. I only found out 5 minutes ago from an email telling me to confirm my acceptance by May 24th or else…No news is better than bad news. Wait till Monday and call/email them.

Anyways I will have to give up my spot at HSSRP this summer =( I will be going to Germany on a full YFU scholarship instead so I hope my spot will go to a well-deserved waitlisted applicant. Have fun guys~

Wow Germany sounds amazing! Have fun!

I created a group
[Login | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook)

Congratulations to you all, and I am pretty jealous that you get to go to Germany!

One of my friends from school got in and is attending, so I’ll meet you all this summer when I visit! @jess, I looked at the facebook group and your profile, we have five mutual friends already!

Wow really? That’s so cool, you should join the group too so you can tell us all about it! Can you add me as a friend?

hey guys, i got in too! For those of you who don’t know where to find it on the CCLE website: log in, then click on HSSRP Application Files. Scroll to the bottom and there should be a text box under “Submission Feedback”.

Not sure if I’ll be attending yet, but congrats to everyone else who got in!

still no response well I got jpl spaceship so looks like ill be at jpl all summer. good luck to you guys!

Wow, congratulations Kevin! Dang, that’s a difficult program to get in. I think a few people from my school applied, but didn’t have any success. But I’m so happy that it all worked out for you! :]

oh… you go to noho hahha (facebook group-> profile-> mutual friends-> gloria, sam, other noho geniuses) i go to granasty

haha, I have friends at both G-house and NoHo! and I think my roommate from HSSRP last year is doing JPL this summer :O

granada sucks -.- anyway… do you have any idea what the interns even do? the jpl spaceSHIP post isn’t really active at all.

new at CC, but i’ve always been lurking. anyways, sorry to jack the thread but i also got into jpl spaceSHIP and i also had the same question as kevinkyukim

WOw JPL looks like a great program. I think I"ll apply to it next year. Anyways is it residential or commute?

I haven’t recieved a response yet ):
Looks like I’m gonna just volunteer the whole summer! Still volunteering will be very satisfying!

I’m not sure if you’re asking about HSSRP or JPL. I don’t know what goes on at the spaceSHIP but I can tell you that HSSRP is just as amazing! I worked in a Materials Science and Engineering lab, working with polymer light-emitting diodes. My roommates analyzed earthquake data from buildings in Turkey and studied head trauma in mice. What I think HSSRP would have over JPL is the exposure to different fields of science and engineering that you wouldn’t necessarily find there. Every week, we hear from different faculty members as well as fellow HSSRPers on what is happening in their respective fields of engineering and about the other students’ summer projects. Plus, I don’t know if JPL has a residential option or not, but HSSRP obviously provides a unique opportunity - kind of like you’re actually working there as a researcher. JPL might have this too, I’m not sure.

all right, so I’m biased toward my program. I’m sure they’re both great, and this is just a small glimpse at all of the opportunities at HSSRP!

yea i get what you’re saying the whole research vs. internship.
honestly I really wanted to do research, but I don’t think I was accepted
plus I did a residential program (cosmos) last summer and i wanted to do a residential program again cause idk being away from my parents was just… unbelievably fun.
but I guess im going to spaceship and its not biggy hopefully my project ther will be just as fulfilling.

I’m sorry for not making my question clear. Is JPL a residential program?

And yes I agree HSSRP is an amazing program. I will apply to it again next year. =) Have fun!

Kevin,
Mr. Herrera just sent out the rejection letters so if you haven’t heard from HSSRP you should definitely shoot him an email.
