UCLA Honors Program

Is anyone who's going interested in doing this? What's the upside? If it is more work then I only see a downside.

Yeah, I’ve been wondering this too! I honestly don’t want to do a ton of extra work since there’s going to be so much reading. Is it really a big deal?

i want to do this but i was thinking about waiting to enroll until after my first quarter is completed. there is also departmental honors within each major… i don’t know how those two programs work together or if they do at all.

^Liz, you’ve decided to go to UCLA? Departmental Honors requires you to have a 3.5 GPA and to write a senior/honor thesis. This is what I am planning on doing as it will allow me to be recognized with “honors” during commencement and I already have a topic in mind.

@dezziner: I don’t know if it is a big deal or not. But I’m seeking to maximize the most from my undergraduate experience.

My concern is that the UCLA Honors Program is more workload but without the prestige of Regents. If that’s the case then I see no reason to pursue it.
