UCLA Honors Program

Hello,

I currently am eligible to be accepted into the Undergrad Honors Program at UCLA. To actually be accepted into the program, I need to write an essay about a topic that I would like to research and why I am motivated to research this topic. I'm going in as a bio major, so I have a few questions:

1) Does everyone receive the same topic for their entrance essay? I'd like to know if I received a topic about research just because I applied under biology as my major.

2) I know the prompt is asking for what I would personally like to research, but does anyone have any suggestions? Does my research have to be biology-based (ie. animals, cancer, etc.) or can I propose research about humanitarian subjects? I'm very lost as to what I should propose!

3) What are the chances of acceptance into the Honors Program at UCLA? Also, does it really make that big of a difference when you graduate? I noticed that most of the Honors classes offered involve Social-Science courses, which in my opinion, don't really relate to my major.

Thanks for the help!
