Ucla hssrp 2013

Hi everyone,

I applied to this program. Did anyone get notified of their acceptance/rejection? They did say the decisions were coming out today....plz reply im getting desperate

I applied and I haven’t received a response from them yet either. :(

no reply yet :(

i heard that they sent 60 emails last night but only to rising seniors. apparently they are also going to send a few more emails to rising juniors in a week/week and a half.

btw im a sophomore right now

I’m a junior. I am slowly…waiting…for my email…

EDIT: Nevermind! I got an email as an initial selection!

moonroll…When did you get the email?

@moonroll if you don’t mind answering, when did you submit everything? Last year they said they were reading applications on a rolling basis, so they did the same with acceptances.

I got the email at around 12:30 PST today.

I officially had everything sent in and submitted about 11:50pm either the day before the last day or the day before they weren’t accepting anything anymore.

moonroll
can you tell us your stats please? thanks

no response here either… while we’re waiting, lets all post our stats to get an idea of what the applicants were like. i’ll start…

PSAT: 223
idk forsure about my UC gpa, cause its weird to calculate, but:
GPA (Unweighted): 4.61

Self-studied for AP Chem cause it wasn’t offered at my school, got a 4 in it. uhh, idk what else. I guess all A’s since beginning of sophomore year, i’m taking 5 APs now, internship last summer at local energy company. how about you guys?

GPA: 3.9 unweighted, 4.3 weighted

4 on APUSH exam
Currently taking 3 APs right now

moonroll, any PSAT/SAT scores? extracurriculars? something that would make you stand out?

i had
soph 4.75 unweighted, 4.25 weighted
cum 3.88 unweighted, 4.04 weighted
and currently a sophomore
but i have no aps or sats
you think i have a chance?

Okay, sorry about that.

GPA: 3.9 unweighted, 4.3 weighted

4 on APUSH exam
3 APs right now: biology, european history, computer science

I didn’t include any PSAT or SAT/ACT scores because I haven’t taken the SAT/ACT yet and I don’t know my PSAT score, lol.

My ECs aren’t that great…
-math team and competed in all competitions
-MESA and won 2nd place in a competition
-took the AMC (american mathematics contest)
-pursuit of excellence award in geometry because I had the highest grade
-ok these two are kind of irrelevant but I’m in a mentor/mentee UCLA group and I volunteer at a dog shelter a lot LOL

Uhhh I really really liked my application essay and I had good letters of recommendation…

@itsme456

idk, seems like they’re targeting juniors right now and for you I guess it would depend how strong your ECs are.

I didn’t receive any reply and I’m a junior right now.
How do you think my chances are?

psat: 233
SAT: 2080 (it was the only one I’ve taken… didn’t do so hot  )
Classes: All honors, and three APs so far: World History (4), Chinese(5), Biology (5)
Currently taking three APs: Physics B, Computer Science, Calculus BC

unweighted GPA: 3.8
weighted GPA: 4.76

ECs: MESA, tutoring math at an elementary school, JTASA, MUN, home projects, and I fence.

Yeah, I guess you’d have a good chance, just like most of the other applicants.

What’s the point of asking for stats and then posting them here? If the HSSRP accept you, then there was something about you that they liked. Why ask for other people’s opinions? How would they know what your chances are if they’re not one of the advisers looking over the applications? If your stats seem above average at least, then of course you have a good chance.

Now, cloudcotton, a 2080 on the SAT isn’t even a bad score. At least you broke the 2000 barrier.

I am a junior who hasn’t gotten an email, but I’m still hoping to be that waiting list of theirs. That’s what the rest of you should do too if you haven’t received an email. You all put what you could about yourselves on the application, now leave it up to the decision makers at HSSRP!

@lineescape

Thanks. I guess I’m getting caught up with all the waiting, but I think you’re right  We’ve done all that there’s to do!

I was just wondering what a typical accepted student looked like is all. @moonroll you seem pretty qualified, congrats on the acceptance!

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see is all. some interesting things i noticed among many of the students on here are MUN and MESA. what are they? and how are they offerred? just by googling, i’m still not entirely sure what they are… my school is really quite terrible with offering semi-decent clubs or programs, so the only nice things i can access out here are what i make for myself
