UCLA HSSRP internship

Haven’t gotten anything yet either

This wait is killing me. In case you haven’t noticed, the application website has changed. Apparently last year, they postponed the deadline for a week, notifying everyone the afternoon of the deadline. Since we haven’t received anything of thus far, i’m guessing they’re working hard to try and release decisions tonight. Best of luck to everyone.

P.S. I guess we can pass time by posting stats and essay topics?

nothing here either. thought it was going to be out by 5 like SIMR, but i guess not.

Essay:
Essentially ranted about how amazing engineering was for 2/3rd of the essay, spent rest talking about how HSSRP fit into that.

So yeah. Nothing uber-fancy or anything. I think I still have a good shot at getting in though. Problem is, their website was kind of ambiguous and thus my teachers didn’t send in their recs in pdf form.

You guys all better post your stats too or else I’m going to look pretentious :(

^ my stats are actually pretty similar.
for my essay I wrote about scientific curiosity and talked a lot about bioengineering, which are the focus of most of my EC’s (2 published papers by end of summer and ISEF Grand Award Winner in microbiology + tons of lab research) I also talked about how I want to go to HSSRP in order to research in a different setting and to meet new like-minded people.

Applying as a junior from Utah o.o. Any other OOS applicants?

btw, still nothing yet.

Everyone’s stats are scaring me. My GPA is closer to a 4.3 than a 4.8. And I’m a sophomore. I really hope these results go up tonight.

7:10 at the admissions office already… If they’re gonna be out tomorrow, I would have guessed that they would have notified everyone…

So many people following this thread. Why isn’t anyone posting? Or is it just the same people checking back every 5 seconds o.O.

this wait is killing me… if they don’t post in 1.5 hours, i’m guessing results won’t be out tonight.

All quiet on the western front. Since it’s almost 8 here in California, I’m going to go ahead and assume that it’s probably not coming out today. Then again, the conspicuous lack of updates on the websites indicates that they might be scrambling to publish and will do so late. Who knows.

Just got an email. Felt like I was going to have a heart attack…

Just got the acceptance email right now. Check your normal email, not the ucla portal.

^ ■■■■■???

haven’t gotten anything yet.

if they don’t come out today, we possibly have to wait until Tuesday because of weekend + memorial day…

No, I got an email too. It says “Initial Selection” though. Does replying to it absolutely guarantee acceptance? I don’t want to overreact over this. Anyone know if they did this last year?

No, I definitely got the email. It’s from William Herrera and I got it in my normal email, the email that I registered for the ucla portal with.

can you guys please post the email?

nothing yet :(

Nothing yet

hopefully no email atm doesn’t mean rejection…

I didn’t get anything either
I’m starting to freak out

same. FREAKING OUT.

the 2 users that got in, can you please post stats and maybe that email that you received!!??

You guys shouldn’t freak out. If people decide not to take the position, theyll notify the next qualified applicant. So no official rejections today!
