UCLA Interview

Hi, everyone! I recently got invited to interview for UCLA TFT, and I’m shocked and nervous and excited and basically every emotion ever. Any tips for the interview? Also, what are my chances of getting into the school at this point? Thank you!!

Hey there, I applied to TFT for film/television and got an interview invitation as well! Based on what they told us in the email (30 people are getting an interview) and what I looked up about previous years (accept 15-20), we have a very good chance at this point. But it’s still terrifying to think about travelling all the way to LA, having a 15 minute interview, and getting rejected in the end :frowning:

Good luck!

Hi!!! Congrats! Wow those are great chances then! Good luck on your interview :)))

are you guys transfers or freshmen??? I’m getting worried…I didnt get an interview email but I heard that this year transfers arent getting them…IM CONFUSED :frowning:

@MiniGrace11 I’m a freshman! So I suppose what you heard is right? Maybe only freshman get interviews, but I’m not sure!

@elise22199 from what I’m reading, only theater majors get interviews. Maybe that’s the reason I haven’t heard anything; I’m a film major

@MiniGrace11 ah okay! I hate how everything is so vague ahahaha but good luck!!

I thought interview won’t start till mid March or early April according to school’s website.

@Marry9898 I was interviewed yesterday, so maybe it’s different year to year? Or depending on if you’re a freshman or transfer…

@elise22199 What are your stats like? And did you have awards, etc. ?

@itsjackiee I actually haven’t had much experience in film at all, which is why I was so surprised I got an interview ahahah. But as for stats,

  • 4.58 weighted GPA and 3.98 unweighted
  • 1390 on the new SAT and 31 on the ACT
  • I am the editor in chief of my school’s journalism program
That’s all that I really had going for me aside from my supplements ahahaha. Although I’ve heard that TFT doesn’t weigh heavily on one’s experience in film or his/her GPA and such (as long as it’s above a certain level I believe…?). So really it’s all down to the supplements from what it seems like!

Congratulations! I haven’t gotten an interview so my chances are probably close to 0 HAHA but I’m hoping to try to transfer in. Although, someone gave me a bit hope saying they had no interview. Still I don’t understand the reasoning for only accepting around 30 students when they really can accept much more.

Thank you! And yeah I’ve seen some people get admitted without an interview so it’s possible! Good luck!! I also think the 30 student class is pretty crazy ahahaha. UCLA has the resources to teach many more people! But I see where they’re coming from with the small class sizes, so each student gets an adequate amount of attention hahaha
