I got in, but im unsure if i want to attend. I know its a good school.
Has prestige. But i've also heard a lot of negatives. Lots of competition, not much
access to professors, large class sizes and difficultly in getting classes u need due to number of students. Anyone have similar concerns? If im getting more aid at a private school like Rice (less name recognition but still a great school with more professor interaction and smaller class sizes due to smaller number of students), how would it compare to UCLA or berkeley?

Also got into Rice, UC Berkeley, UCSD. Others im considering are UCSB and Fordham cus both gave me great financial aid. Thoughts? Really confused Any help would be appreciated

Most of that is pretty much ********.

Is it competitive? Yes, but its a prestigious university, are you expecting an easy 4.0?

There is plenty of access to professors. You can talk to them after class or go to office hours. Also, most will let you schedule an appointment with them if you really want to talk to them about something.

Lectures are pretty big, but all lectures have smaller discussions with TAs. When you enroll, you’ll pick a lecture and discussion section. Also, the class size doesn’t really matter all that much as long as you show up on time and get a decent seat.

Getting the classes you need can be a pain in the butt, but as your college standing grows, you’ll get more priority in enrollment. So if you don’t get a class you want one quarter, take something else to help with your major and postpone it for later.

UCLA > Rice. If you still want to go to a UC but are afraid of UCLA, I’d recommend UCSD; its a pretty good school.

it’s not big if u really get involved
