Really quick- I think you have a typo with your GPA. Clear that up and plug your grades into a UC GPA calculator if you don’t already know your UC GPA and then I’ll be happy to chance you!

UC GPA calculator: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

UCLA will use the capped weighted and fully weighted UC GPA.

Based on your posted stats, EC’s and HS course rigor, you look like a competitive applicant other than your GPA. Do you have an extenuating circumstances for the low GPA?

UCLA is a tough admit even with High GPA 4.0+, high test scores etc…

What is your intended major?

First generation will help.

UCLA will be a Reach unless your capped weighted GPA is above a 4.2

This is what UCLA considers in their application review:

  • Very important: Academic GPA, Application essay, Rigor of secondary school record, Standardized test scores
  • Important: Character/personal qualities, Extracurricular activities, Talent/ability, Volunteer work, Work experience
  • Considered: First generation college student, Geographical residence
  • Note: GPA, test scores, course work, number of and performance in honors and AP courses most important. Essay considered. Strong senior program important. Extracurricular activities, honors and awards also reviewed.

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19:

UCSD: 44%
UCSB: 54%
UCD: 58%
UCI: 65%
UCSC: 85%

Make sure you apply widely and have 1-2 safety schools on your list. Best of luck.

Sorry, I made a typo - my W GPA is 4.35

@Gumbymom - Thank you for the info. I mixed up my GPA numbers: my UC GPA is 4.35

If your UC GPA is 4.35, then you are a very competitive and qualified applicant. You definitely have a good chance at an acceptance.
