Anyone think that UCLA's ranking should be higher? For a university that is known worldwide for its academic excellence and strength in research I think that UCLA should definitely be ranked higher than UVa, Washu, Notre Dame, and a few other schools.

It seems that most other countries in the world view UCLA very highly while the US seems to look down upon it. Why is this?

Do you agree, disagree? Why?

I think its ranked where it should be.

I’d put it in the 13-17 range

^^^^just behind Michigan. ;-)

underrated, or underranked?

underrated is synonymous with under-ranked. “Rated” and “Ranked” are the same word.

not in my book.

underranked - us news list

underrated - people’s perception of the school (oftentimes based on that one ranking but not always)

in that case schee, id call it underranked but not underrated

I think it is not underranked/underrated. It is placed where it should be, which is great. It may be overrated in Cali, but I wouldn’t know since I’m not from there.

i agree that it is underranked, but not underrated

here in CA (SoCal i might add), i think UCLA falls in the shadow of UCB, Stanford, and, to a lesser degree, Caltech, but everyone still knows it is a great school. i don’t hear anyone bashing it, unlike some other schools on this forum, and being admitted is an impressive achievement, especially considering how admissions were for the UCs this year.
