So I have a 13" HP Pavilion laptop already... but I'm thinking about dropping some cash on the 8.9"/10" HP Mini 1000... or maybe even an Acer netbook.

Do most students bring their laptops to class or have most of them switched to bringing netbooks?

I'm having such a dilemma and trouble deciding on whether or not it's worth it to have a laptop AND a netbook for UCLA haha. My laptop is pretty much like my desktop/PC anyway.. and it's heavy for a 13"

Have you actually used a netbook for any extended period of time. Why would you need one of all of a sudden. I’m sure a laptop would still be fine unless UCLA had all of a sudden redesigned the ergonomics of its classrooms to be netbook biased.

I think unchimon was trying to point out that his 13" laptop is a way heavier than a 8,9"/10" netbook. I would say just wait till school started, to see is it convenience enough to carry a 13" .

I’m a girl… Why would you assume I was a boy, lol. Isn’t it obvious that a girl would complain about carrying a heavy 13" laptop vs. a mini netbook? hahaha.

But yeah, I just have some extra money to spend, the netbook is more of a want than a necessity.

unless u r computer science major, u rarely bring ur laptop to class, or unless u dont care about the lecture. Yeah i’m in the same dillema by the way… Im thinking about buying a netbook only for the use in the library during finals. But I guess it will become something like my PDA which I use once a year…more like a toy

im pretty sure the OP means to take notes with their laptop… not facebook/browse during lectures and ill being rocking my 15’ MBP so I see no problem with a 13’
