I saw the youtube video of some hopeless guy getting tased by the police...it angered me like crazy. There is NO WAY that, after they got him into cuffs, he needed to be tased. Most cops tase once to get them on the ground, and then cuff them, and get them out. That stuff was ridiculous. did anybody hear how that whole thing settled out?

It should still be going on right now...

yeah, welcome to ridiculously old news... oh, and thanks for becoming one of millions of people who think they know everything about an incident from a few minutes of absolutely terrible video.

I watched that youtube video, and my one question is this--when the cops kept telling the kid to stop resisting and do as they directed, why on earth did he choose to not only refuse to comply--but also decided to scream obsecenities at the cops?

I mean, if he really was "in so much pain that he couldn't get up," how did he manage to have enough energy to cuss the cops out--but not enough to just tell them how he felt and ask them to give him a minute? Honestly, if he'd just cooperated, it would have been so much easier on himself... but he just had to stick it to the man and act hardcore and tough, didn't he?

^ exactly - and he got what he deserved

I don't mean to be a smart aleck, but... umm... welcome to 2007. Did you just hibernate through 2006?

Did the video actually show the person getting tasered? The one that was referenced here at CC some time ago only had the guy cursing and what not, and buy the time the guy with the cameraphone actually worked his way around there, the person was already acting somewhat compliant by then...

There is a variety of interpretations of the video due to it's poor quality. Personally I think he purposely drew attention by not cooperating + doublespresso's view.

Wow this is kinda old news, but I'm still sticking to what I believe. Yea it was the partly the guy's fault, but no matter what you foolish conservative or ignorant ppl say, the police still have the bigger blame. If you guys haven't noticed, not every police person is good.

No one is disputing that - but the fact that bad people exist in this world, and that they exist in all professions, does not logically lead to the conclusion that every police officer is bad or that every action of a police officer is wrong.
Unless you yourself are a police officer or have some other access to knowledge of police tactics, you don't have the necessary experience/training to say whether their actions were appropriate.

Oh, one of those things, I see. I was just wondering if there was some other video that maybe I missed.

The kid was not at fault, that ****ed me off so much.
Actualy, you know what? they should have just shot him in the head. Then they would have set an example!

It doesn't matter if he was swearing at the cops. What immediate danger is he posing to the point where they needed to tase him? He is in handcuffs! If you want him out of there, why the **** cant 4 cops drag his ass out? He wasn't kicking them or anything...the guy went limp..so if he is limp...then why no drag him out the door? Yes its old news, I'm not saying it isnt...but the only news stories I hear is about the lawsuit, not how it turned out...i just wanna know how it ended up.

Moral of the story...comply with the police! Also, I've been tased, 2 shocks 5 seconds with prongs (local PD was running a demonstration), its not as bad as getting pepper sprayed and its definitely not as bad as getting physically subdued with a baton.

He was disobeying the police by going limp. Tasers are arguably okay to use in those situations.

Dragging him out the door is all well and good, but he actively disobeyed a law enforcement officer. I think the cop should have done something else, but he was almost certainly within the bounds of legality. Not that I'm defending the cop, of course...

Oh dear god, not this thread again. It's Deja vu.

...so anyone with a differing view than yours must be a moron? Get over yourself. Until you can wrap your mind around why people have different perspectives on various issues, you really shouldn't be calling others ignorant.

alright if you guys wanna try and get up after being tasered once or twice, be my guest. and you're just assuming i'm close minded, I mean come on I'm obviously not a Republican

...the point is still that the guy could have told the cops something like "dude i'm in pain, give me a minute to get up" instead of "#(@#&!^@!&@@*"!!

i mean, honestly. cussing out cops is just NOT the smartest thing to do, no matter what situation you're in!
