CA Palos Verdes Peninsula $1,151,058(LA)

CA Malibu $1,148,105 (LA)

Uhhhh....Burlingame isn't really that close to Stanford, and Alamo if anything is closer to Berkeley....it isn't close to SF...oh yah, Los Altos is really far away from SF too.

Yeah burlingame is like 20 miles from Stanfurd... Los Altos is closer to stanfurd than it is to SF.

OC represent! Although it HAS to be Laguna, right? Love it there, no matter the bad PR MTV's giving it!

UCLA is not in Beverly Hills, nor does UCLA border Beverly Hills.

UCLA is like 1 mile away from Beverly Hills which is close enough. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&address=&city=Beverly+Hills&state=CA&zipcode=

^ go to lvl 7 zoom

i think the cities are just ballparks so people around the country have an idea where it is. they probably wont know where Los Altos is, but they probably have an idea where San Francisco is.

It's CotoDeCasa again!

WHo is San Francisco?

People around the country think that anywhere within a 50 mile radius of the "City" (never "Frisco") is considered San Francisco. And then there are those who plan a trip to S.F. thinking that Disneyland is nearby!

I'm surprised that Atherton, Hillsborough or a Marin County city didn't make the list of S.F. Bay Area cities. I guess those are "old money" and don't count.

GSP, it depends how one measures. Those are highest average home prices. But if you were to measure highest average incomes of cities, then Atherton and Belvedere would top the list; however, if you were to include non incorproated cities but still US Census designated poplation zones, then San Diego's Rancho Santa Fe would top the list along with Belvedere and Atherton yet Los Altos drops significantly. Refer to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richest_places_in_the_United_States#Highest_income_places

Either way these are all rich places.

Apparently though, Athertonians are richer but Los Altos homes cost more.

I saw menlo atherton in this other list of the "most expensive places in US" so apparently yea it depends.

gsp, if anyone refers to your dear city as "Frisco," you can ask them how Texas is doing.

"i think the cities are just ballparks so people around the country have an idea where it is. they probably wont know where Los Altos is, but they probably have an idea where San Francisco is."

haha, then i must live in San Francisco...no...Oakland lol...San Jose...DOH...one of those big cities lol

i dont think San Jose is that well known either. at orientation when i told people i was from san jose, they gave me a blank look until i said the SF bay area.

lol that is one of the most common responses you'll get here at UCLA when you ask someone where they're from: "Oh, I'm from the Bay Area".... by which they mean any of a million cities within about 100 miles from San Fransisco :)

well its just like if someone said they were from Arcadia then I would give them that "w-t-f-is-that" stare.
