suppose I get accepted to UCLA for geography, could I switch to math/econ after 2 quarters once I catch up on the math requirement?
as I understand it they are both in the college of letters and sciences and neither major is impacted so it may be possible to change to the math econ major...
for reference;
I am going to fall 2 math classes short, and one object oriented programming class short. the budget cuts at my city college have made it so they don't offer linear algebra or the object oriented programming classes in times that fit my schedule in the spring. I think missing those 2 + differential equations will be too much for them to accept me into the math/econ major.
thanks

side note:
I was originally going to apply for bus/econ but I don't think my GPA will be competitive enough after this semester, taking a 5 unit B probably. so I will be looking at like a 3.68 cum assuming my other classes don't nose dive in the next 4 weeks.

the more important question you need to ask yourself is what would you do if they don’t let you switch. You better like the idea of your geography major, otherwise you risk getting stuck in majoring in something you don’t want to.

lol that major just had a low GPA with a high admit rate as well as the fewest additional requirements for me to take since I’ve already taken one geography class

I was missing linear, discrete, and my college did not have a course articulated for object oriented programming (however I did take a programming course and later filed a petition and received credit for the course).

I was still accepted and if you maintain good grades + write a decent essay I’m sure you would be accepted for math/econ as well. Don’t apply as geography, apply as math/econ and simply explain why you didn’t have a chance to take certain courses.

hmm, that gives me some hope. my GPA should be good enough… just don’t want to risk getting rejected, UCLA is local and a great school… so I can continue working for another year or so while doing school, any other UC I would have to find a new job or quit altogether.
