Hello guys,
I am planning to transfer to UCLA as Mechanical Engineering Major in fall '13(will apply in november '12). However before fall '13 I may be missing one of my pre-reqs (physics 3 or differential equations) My GPA is 4.0 so far. Is that missing pre-req going to be a big deal for UCLA transfer?
I am not fixated at UCLA, I don't mind going to any UC in SoCal (UCSB,UCI or UCSD) but I liked the internship help you get at UCLA internship programs. They have a vast network. Are any other UCs as good as UCLA in getting its students placed at engineering internships? I would really like to have some internship experience before I graduate. I know Cal maybe better than UCLA at internship opportunities, however Cal has more pre-reqs than any other UCs and I would be missing a couple of Cal Pre-reqs. And I prefer to live in LA or SD over Berkeley.

I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure completing pre-reqs is a big deal for UCLA.

UCI, not so much. I suggest that you look into TAG and see if you can complete the requirements there and guarantee yourself a spot.

It might. Your stats seem solid though, so it’s very possible that may not mind if it’s just one missing. But UCLA Engineering is very, very competitive so it would put you at a distinct disadvantage over someone who does have it done. Is there anyway you could get them both done by the end of next Spring?

Alright thanks guys … I am trying my best to finish my pre-reqs before spring … I am going to 2 different community colleges this summer. I am actually planning to finish all my pre-reqs in 3 semester + 1 summer … and with the bad shape CC are in financially, its become difficult to get all the classes one require.
Does it help that I am a returning student with over 3 years experience in sales and marketing … I started a job right after high school … I may not be able to get TAG as I may not finish 30 units by this summer(25 by summer end) … but still I will try to TAG at UCI or UCSB but I am not sure if they will accept me even if I maintain my 4.0 GPA.
Anyone knows about internships?? If it comes down to UCI UCSD or UCSB … I want to select the ones with best internship opportunities (Plus I am a beach bum so I dont want to go too far from beaches … )
