Hi this is a thread for future freshmen who are awaiting to see their results of being admitted into UCLA’s nursing program as a freshman. How many freshmen do they accept into this program? Do they review the application holistically for this major as well or only focused on SAT/ACT scores and GPA combo? I’m really nervous because UCLA is my dream school for nursing and I hope I get in, but the sheer amount of competition and impaction really scares me. I worked hard on my application, especially the essays. Also one of my recommenders told me he received a call from UCLA nursing admissions asking further questions about me and they also said I was a strong candidate and he told them they would be lucky to have me. My recommendor was a mentor for me, he is now a physician scientist and was also a student at UCLA in 2010. I hope this may increase my chances.
Hi I am also a prospective freshman who wants to go to UCLA for nursing! I know someone who was accepted into the program a few years back and their stats weren’t totally amazing, but her extracurriculars probably made up for it! From that, I am pretty sure that UCLA evaluates holistically. Also, that sounds like a good sign for you, and it helps that your recommender went there too!
Also based on this : http://www.apb.ucla.edu/campus-statistics/admissions , it seems that there were around 2697 applicants for undergrad, and only 54 acceptances…a 2% acceptance rate!

If they called your recommender I guess that is a good sign.
what are your guys’ stats
Hi everyone! I’m a current nursing student, I know decisions already came out but I hope I can help a little bit. They accept 40 freshman and 10 transfers every year. They focus on the application holistically - I have friends/peers who were valedictorian and then others who didn’t have that high of test scores but had really great essays/motivation to be a nurse. That said, make sure you are taking AP classes and scoring high on tests because they want to know that you can handle the program (it’s rigorous hahaha). Don’t be scared about the competitive side - if you’re supposed to be there, you will be there, and I firmly believe that when it comes to all colleges. I hope a few of you got in, if you have any questions let me know and I can try to answer them! If not, I can try and answer questions about other schools too - specifically UPenn, UW, UCI, and APU.
