Hi! Right now I’m a Freshman…But I am really interested in going to UCLA’s nursing program. It seems to be the best in California and I really like the campus. Right now I have all A’s; I am taking three honors classes( the others don’t have honors). Next year I will be taking honors pre-cal, AP euro, honors la 10, french 2, honors Chem, and chior. My practice ACT composite is 28 and I plan on volunteering at a hospital for at least 4 hours a week starting next month. Do I have a chance at getting into UCLA nursing? I know the admission rate is like 2.6% but…
You’re doing the right things, especially with volunteering. Nursing schools generally require a supplemental application that you can download so you understand what they’re going to be asking about. This gives you a chance to make sure you’re doing the things that will let you give responses helpful to your chances of admission (like volunteering, since they ask about that).
The odds are not good, but they’re not quite the published number according to askmssun (blog, you can find with a search engine). Believe or or not, only about 1/2 the people who apply even fill out the supplemental app! Either they didn’t realize its required or they look at it and change their minds after realizing they aren’t going to be competitive (which is why I suggest you read it over now).
If you live in the SoCal area then you also ought to attend one of the admission workshops Nursing regularly holds just to see what they say and get more info
Thanks for the reply! I’ll definitely will look at the supplemental application. It’s good to know that the chances of admittance are higher; I had no idea about the missing apps! I will also try to go to one of their admission workshops, just waiting until they post more dates. Thank you so much!
Hi!! I’m attending UCLA nursing currently, please let me know if you have any questions
