Hi, I am trying desperately to get into the film school at one of these three programs. I am in the top 19 percent of my class, SAT 1930, ACT 27, Cross Country 3 years in a row. I will also have a good letter of rec from my English teacher. What are my chances, and if they aren't so good, what are my other options?

I'd say UCLA and NYU are reaches. Texas, not so sure, but you should really retake your standardized tests. If you're top 19th percent, I don't know what kind of GPA that is, but it might be on the low side. The only thing you CAN change right now are tests. Also, do you have any film-related ECs? That might help boost your prospects.

I expect to get my SAT above 2000 soon, and my GPA is about 93 all AP classes. So film related experience unfortunately... I really had my hopes set on NYU or UCLA. What are my other options.

Schools that are not as competitive as UCLA and NYU.

Chapman College is decent for film. I'd say USC but, school rivalries aside, that program is incredible @_@

have you shown interest in film thru ec's?

i dont think sat is required for nyu for film major...but your sample work is required instead..(not so sure..)

This is embarrassing but what is film through ec's... Thanks for all the help by the way.

if you're instate for UT, you have a good chance. i think the other two are reaches though.
