Okay I am a little confused on how this works. First assuming Financial aid is covering all my expenses, how much a month does UCLA give you to pay rent. Secondly does financial aid disburse this amount monthly, or in one lump sum. Lastly where or some of the places you guys have rented from. I am having trouble finding a place since my credit is not the greatest and most places require a one year lease.

Financial aid is distributed quarterly. Did you try craigslist? The Community Housing Office? The UCLA forums? Those are good places to start. If your credit isn't the greatest, you can get a parent to co-sign. Are you looking to live in an apartment for less than a year or something? Is this for the upcoming quarter?

Yeah it is for the upcoming quarter. Will financial aid cover the apartment for a entire year?

Well, all I got in terms of financial aid was a $5500 unsubsidized Stafford loan that I intend to use for rent in a private apartment. It's up to you how you spend it, and the conditions of the grant/loan.
