Heck yeah to UCLA. I wouldn’t even give it a second of a thought. My mind is already set for UCLA.

I’d have to give it some thought, actually. If I’m accepted to both UCLA and Cal, I’ll probably have to spend at least a week mulling it all over.

What time will they update the admissions for transfers? Should we check at midnight?

I’ve heard 5pm

Whhyyy! I won’t be able to sleep at night and then I’ll be up until 5pm. :|

@seanoh

if i get into UCLA I’m SIRing immediately as well. I’m over this college decisions wait bs, and anyways USC is my number 1 and I could hear from them in June so I’m forced to SIR to a UC. I just want to stay in LA -___-

@bear

usc is not releasing until june? isn’t there some type of procedure for this type of thing? like, if their admissions come out after admission decision deadlines for other schools i believe you fax them your acceptance letter and request a decision from them, i know that’s what brown university does. june though? that is batsht!

USC last release is like 1-2 week before your decision is due to UCs.

Alas! I have found the UCLA thread. LOL

@ Postsecret:Good luck with the comm major! You have a great chance. I couldn’t hack it so I applied as an anthro major =]

I applied as a comm major at SB, SD and Davis.

oh for usc you just sir to a uc and wait pretty much till usc lets you know

My friend had to SIR at ucla and wait for USC. She ended up going to SC. You just loose the money you payed when you sir

@jmk7: Aw, really? I haven’t visited SB yet but from what I’ve heard and googled, it looks gorgeous. What didn’t you like about it? And yes, good luck to us both!

@iDizzle: Thank you! I really hope I don’t regret it – I considered switching majors more times than I can count, but decided to just take a chance. Whenever I see the Comm transfer stats for UCLA, I want to go back in time and strangle myself (I have a complicated academic history.) Anyway, I’m so glad I’ve found other comm majors! Where do you want to go?

@ Postsecret: Yeah the 2011 transfer admissions profile for the comm major makes me retch every time I look at it. LOL. Yeah I have some bad grades that lingered from when I attended ccc back in 05 so it brought my over all gpa down. Your chances look really good though.

Well I really wanted to go to LA at first since my bro goes there but at this point I’ve decided to stick with my Comm major instead of anthropology. So in a way I kind of want to be rejected from LA that way I don’t have to choose between UCLA(anthro) if I get in, or communications somewhere else. lol. But my top choices at this point would be SD, Davis and SB for comm. Go comm! lol

compare your stats with '10. our applicant numbers are around the same as that yr since last yr, there were about 1000 more applicants.

@iDizzle: Not according to my counselor - and I quote, “I had a student with 4.0 and 1 prereq missing, and she was rejected from UCLA comms. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.” I’ve also gotten used to the slight wince counselors/reps give when I tell them my major. Oh well!

Did you TAG to SD? Their comm program is really good, but you’re a great candidate for UCLA anthro - I think you’re in. Get ready to make a tough decision! ;)

@Philosoup: I just looked, and for my major, transfers had an even higher GPA in 2010 than in 2011. Oy vey.

Anxiety.

So can anyone shed some light on whether the decisions will be released at midnight or 5pm?

USC? when? when? when? june?

@Postsecret: lol. My brother has a friend at LA who is a comm major but they got in with a 4.0. The nice thing about LA though is the “holistic” deal which means even if your gpa isn’t great they may still consider you based on your PS etc. I did TAG to SD but i only had a 3.49 when I submitted the TAU so I didnt qualify =[. But I already got accepted to SB’s comm program so I have a definite backup. =]. Where else did you apply for comm?

@iDizzle do you know by any chance know if your brother had an easy time making friends and what not, as a commuter student to UCLA?

@ Chelz: He lives on campus. lol.
