Hey guys I've been researching a bit and I still don't know which dorm suits me best. Which dorm has the most transfers? I heard it was Sunset, Rieber Terrace & Rieber Vista.

What are you guys choosing and why?

I actually don’t know much about the specific buildings, but generally I hear the res. halls are the most popular for freshman while plazas and suites are better for transfers. On the actual housing application I wasn’t allowed to choose the specific buildings anyway so that’s why I didn’t really bother to research that area so in-depth (they just have you choose your 3 top choices for “facility” (on campus res. hall, plaza or suite or off-campus UCLA-owned apt.) and 6 top choices for “room type” (like how many occupants per room and what kind of set up e.g. shared bath)

I’m choosing plaza first, then apt., then res. hall. Just because I generally prefer a good balance of social (not too much not too little) as well as air conditioning (only in plazas) The apartments are cheap and of course you get an actual kitchen I like to bake and am vegan so in a way it’s better than meal plans for me. Res. halls do have a few benefits even for transfers though, like safety I guess. and easier to build a social network. I guess I’d prefer something close like De Neve for plazas.

same, and for all the same reasons!!! haha

actually I chose Residential suite, Residential suite, and Residential suite, haha. But I’m wondering if it is guaranteed…
BTW, these was no meal plan option on the application. when we can choose meal plan?

Are you serious? No mean plans?

UCtransfergirl thanks a lot!

you choose meal plans after you are given your housing details

No problem yeah as far as meal plans you choose when accepting your housing offer. Actually if you haven’t turned in your app. yet here are more links that may help:
